Oaklands Glamping & Treehouse
Pure escapism awaits in an opulent, adults-only treehouse retreat, set in the heart of mid-Wales.
From sumptuous furnishings and private facilities, to those little holiday ‘extras', you'll find every last detail has been carefully thought out at Oaklands, with its wildlife-steeped grounds delightfully secluded in the Powys hamlet of Llangyniew.
Wherever you decide to rest your heads here, magnificent country views are guaranteed...and that's just for starters.
Bespoke-crafted, adults-only Heartwood Treehouse is an ideal escape for couples who want to leave dull everyday life firmly on the ground. Beautifully constructed by hand and set within the trees, there is plenty of intricate detail to cast your eyes upon as you ascend the grand staircase.
Why not begin your break by enjoying a sizzling barbecue on the south-facing oak tree decking, as you survey all the beauty of the Welsh countryside and the sparkling Banwy River? Later, as the first stars make their appearance in the evening sky, a soothing dip in your private wood-fired hot tub has to be the ultimate in relaxation (particularly when accompanied with a glass of bubbles!)
Inside, a cosy leather sofa is ideally placed by the huge windows for you to enjoy those endless views, with a crackling log burner to keep you warm. Steeped in luxury, the kingsize bed guarantees a sound night's sleep...while a freestanding bath and a walk-in rainfall shower are ideal places to refresh, rejuvenate...or simply unwind.
Enjoy morning coffee prepared in your integrated kitchen, and marvel at your good holiday fortune!
Meanwhile, Bluebell and Foxglove are two cosy safari lodges, named after the flourishing flowers vividly strewn across the site. Each lodge sleeps up to four people, in a kingsize bed and a double sofa bed. Bluebell also includes a private wood-fired hot tub with incredible rural views.
Lovingly designed and rich in luxury, this is no ordinary camping experience. Enter your lodge to find a well-equipped kitchen, a roll-top bath with fluffy towels, and your bed dressed in Egyptian cotton. You'll even find board games, hot water bottles and extra blankets to see you warmly through any chilly evenings.
When the weather is good, simply unwind in the rattan seats on your private decking, taking in the lush countryside views. If you squint, you might even catch a glimpse of the local steam train as it chugs by.
Though the shops aren't far away, the on-site Honesty Larder will save you the trip if you're feeling lazy. Here you'll find breakfast items including sausages, bacon, eggs and bread - and a few treats for the campfire later on!
If you're feeling a little more energetic, you'll soon discover plenty to see and do in the surrounding area, from stunning gardens and stately homes, to windswept coastlines and beaches...all accessible within an hour's drive. To start you off, why not take a nostalgic trip on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway, then walk in royal shoes with a visit to Powis Castle?
However you decide to spend your time, returning to the welcoming atmosphere at Oaklands is sure to warm your holiday soul.

Tried and tested
"My wife and I stayed in one of the safari tents, and we had awonderful time. First off, the view is AMAZING. Just stunning. Rolling hills, a meandering river, even a steam railway. You can just sit out on the balcony for hours on end and drink the scenery in. Bathroom facilities are one of my bugbears when it comes to outdoor living, but fear not, the tent has both a flushing toilet and a massive roll top bath. The kitchen is small but perfectly formed, with all of the tools you could conceivably need. There's a woodburning stove that can be used to heat the tent and also acts as an oven. But food wise, the star of the show is the outdoor fire pit, which doubles as a bbq. We made good use of it! My favourite part was the bed. Usually I miss my own bed when I go away. Now I just miss the bed from the safari tent. I had the best sleep I'd had in a long time. My bed is useless in comparison. And I guess that's the point of the whole place. You get all the beauty of nature, but the amenities are so good it feels better than being at home. I strongly recommend it."
