History, culture, royalty and folklore – England has it all. The range of magical destinations and unique accommodation options to be discovered in this surprisingly diverse country are sure to satisfy all holiday tastes…and contrary to popular belief, it isn’t always raining!

Take a look in every direction, and you’ll find something unique to enjoy. The South West is home to the longest coastline in Britain, with the unsurpassed beaches of Cornwall, Dorset and Devon (and cream teas to die for!) The mysteries of Stonehenge will enthral, while the thermal spas of Bath have to be experienced at least once.

Head to the South East for royal castles and rolling countryside you’ll want to spend hours exploring, as you stroll along enticing river paths. It’s easy to step back in time in this history-steeped region, while those looking for a city buzz won’t be disappointed by London, a hive of culture and home to some of the most iconic tourist attractions in the world (and, of course, the Queen!)

The North West is home to Cumbria, the beautiful setting of the famed Lake District, where adventurous types can tackle the Pennines, the country’s only mountain range. This fascinating region is also the home of the industrial revolution, and there are plenty of cultural hotspots in store with a city break to Manchester or Liverpool – along with opportunities to shop ‘til you drop.

The gems of the North East include the dramatic Yorkshire counties.Leeds is England’s largest financial hub after London, while historic York is full of charm.  The famed Durham Cathedral is found here too, along with the exquisite castle-lined coast of Northumberland.

You’ll find some of England’s best-preserved Roman remains in the East, with country manor estates that will leave you yearning for a ‘Downton Abbey’ lifestyle!  Cambridge is home to the fourth-oldest university in the world, and is the ideal location for punting on the lake. Meanwhile, wildlife-steeped Norfolk’s traditional seaside resorts will induce cravings for fish and chip suppers.

Lastly but not leastly, cultural Central England boasts Stratford-upon-Avon, the former home of  William Shakespeare. The Peak District is full of dales and moors you’ll want to explore, while for lovers of folklore, Nottingham is the home of Sherwood Forest and the Robin Hood Trail.
