  • Minimum stay: 2-3 nights

An experience akin to paradise in nature, you’ll discover Sleepy Owl Devon set amongst 20 beautiful acres of countryside that form part of the UNESCO North Devon Biosphere Reserve.

Since the peaceful site is also located on the border of the Devon and Cornwall coast, you’ll be spoilt for choice of places to visit and activities to indulge in. Yet with three sumptuous, couples as well as family and dog-friendly retreats to choose from, actually making the decision to leave could prove more difficult than you realised!

Take Hideout Treehouse, for example. Described by The Times as “tailor-made for parents seeking romance”, this expertly hand-crafted hideaway is bursting with gorgeous grown-up luxury, yet there’s plenty to enthral the kids (and dogs) too.

For starters, this is the first-ever treehouse to feature a movable copper bathtub! Easily positioned indoors or out on the scenic woodland terrace, you get to decide exactly where you’ll enjoy that well-deserved bubble-soak with an outdoor shower. There’s a wood-fired hot tub to help you savour the emerging stars later on, too… oh, and a double hammock for lazy afternoon naps.

Though you’ll have a bespoke kitchen inside (complete with a bottle of bubbles and a treat to welcome you) you can also indulge in supreme al fresco dining with help from your sizzling barbecue or wood-fired pizza oven – perfect for slap-up family-sized suppers! Turn the mood lighting on, open a bottle of bubbly and enjoy romantic evenings cuddled up by the fire.

What next? Enjoy a fun-filled movie night, snuggled up all together in front of your living room’s pull-down cinema screen and projector, or linger outside awhile and tell stories around the fire. There’s a wide range of pre-bookable ‘extras’ available to help make your stay extra-extra-special, from massages and a private chef, birthday, anniversaries and honeymoon packages to popcorn and marshmallow toasting-kits to boost your evenings’ entertainment.

When it’s finally time to turn in, there’ll be a magnificently-dressed superking bed ready and waiting for you, while the kids will have their own playful bunk room. Oh, and the dogs won’t be left out of the luxury – with their own beds, treats, towels and blankets gainfully on hand (up to two dogs are welcome at an extra charge).
