Viewpoint
England / Ambleside, Cumbria
Full description
A soul-soothing, architect-created haven that blends perfectly into the stunning natural surroundings at the heart of the Lake District National Park.
A proud finalist in the 2019 Staycation awards, Viewpoint occupies pride of place by the River Rothay, just a pebble-skim from Ambleside, in the heart of the Lake District National Park.
Architect-designed, and lovingly crafted from local materials, the exquisitely curved retreat blends beautifully into the natural riverside environment, showcased from the inside by glistening, bespoke floor-to-ceiling windows.
A more ideal spot for relaxation is difficult to imagine, as you gaze across the water at sunrise, hands warmed by a steaming mug of fresh-brewed coffee.
Sleeping up to four guests, you can relax in comfort together, safe in the knowledge that your stay is also blissfully eco-friendly, with Viewpoint's heating and water supply cleverly designed to reduce its carbon footprint. Even the delightfully soft carpets have been woven using local Herdwick sheep's wool.
Simply head past the landscaped Lakeland stone wall, and enter into the hallway. Awaiting you straight ahead is the light, bright, open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area, decorated in soft tones, and flanked by those huge windows... what a sight!
You'll find more than a few holiday luxuries here too, including a wood-burner to give your evenings a warming glow, a handy wine chiller, and sumptuous stone work surfaces to make cooking dinner feel like a treat.
Later on, take your digestifs out to the terrace as the sun starts to set, and surround yourselves with the soft, soothing evening sounds of rustling leaves and wildlife.
When it's finally time to turn in, there are two large en-suite bedrooms to choose from; one double, and one twin. One features a deluxe walk-in shower, and the other a gorgeous freestanding bathtub.
What to do after that ridiculously sound night's sleep?
Well, with so many amazing walks starting straight from the door, just be sure to have packed some sturdy footwear. Though you could start with a lazy 20-minute stroll to Ambleside, which you'll find brimming with shops, restaurants, and plenty of watersports to try out.
If you prefer giving your feet a rest, why not jump on a Lake Windermere cruise, and relax as you get to know the area's famous waterways a little better?
For special celebrations, there's a Michelin-starred restaurant, The Forest Side, nearby... and for casual chilling time, a friendly pub that's under a ten-minute walk away from Viewpoint.
As relaxing holidays go, who could ask for anything more?
