The Sandy Feet Retreat
England / Anderby Creek, Lincolnshire
Full description
A jaw-dropping beachfront retreat, crafted by a master architect and secluded amongst nature, on one of the UK's "best undiscovered beaches".
Described by the BBC as the "perfect place to get away from the crowds", and a 'best kept secret' by ELLE Decoration, The Sandy Feet Retreat is an instantly magical, truly unforgettable beachfront hideaway for up to 7 incredibly lucky guests.
The beach in question is Anderby Creek, set within a 60-acre Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve, and part of a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Regularly described as one of England's best-kept secrets, the beach itself boasts over 10 pristine miles of sand, surrounded by windswept dunes and gently crashing ocean waves.
So, what of the house itself? Designed by the award-winning architect Jonathan Hendry (who also chose the furniture, fittings, lighting... and even the cutlery!) this is an exceptionally well-crafted, mostly bespoke retreat that drips with pure, understated style.
You'll enter through two huge sliding windows, straight into the custom hand-built dining kitchen - with access to the furnished terrace, hammock, and raised sunbathing deck, just in case you're in a more al-fresco mood.
There's a dedicated changing area and wet room, and a sumptuous snug on the ground level, too; the latter featuring squishy seating and floor mattresses, a wood burner, a Sonos sound system, toys and games, and a Netflix-equipped TV.
Head up the blackened steel-clad steps, to discover three deliciously comfortable bedrooms, each with their own unique character. The Master Suite showcases sparkling ocean views from its downy kingsize bed... and its ensuite bath, and its designer bubble chair that hangs from the ceiling.
Meanwhile, the rear double bedroom is beautifully quiet, with soothing scenes of the nature reserve. Finally, the Little Bunk Room is designed specifically with the kids in mind, featuring fun bunk beds and a third pull-out trundle bed underneath.
You'll discover an amazing House Bathroom/Wet Room on this floor too, with double walk-in showers flanked by frosted, illuminated glass walls that create a spectacular light feature by night!
Your favourite bedroom claimed, it's time to make some entertainment! A dedicated boat house plays host to plenty of watersports equipment, including kayaks, paddle boards, and surfboards, while a separate bird hide and binoculars will help you keep an eye on the abundant local wildlife.
After a long day exploring the beach, all that's left for you to do is prepare a sizzling supper on the built-in barbecue grill, then light the firepit for a star-studded evening of storytelling. With outdoor blankets and a guitar on hand too, there's strong potential for a holiday singalong!
