The Bus Stop
Scotland / Gifford, East Lothian
Pack your bags, grab your timetables and don't be late - it's time to head to The Bus Stop and jump on board for luxurious accommodation in two converted buses!
You'll find The Bus Stop on a working farm in the glorious East Lothian countryside, surrounded by peaceful pastures, yet just a half-hour drive from the bustle of Edinburgh. Here, two handcrafted homes-from-home are waiting, each one expertly fashioned inside the body of a retired bus!
Whether you're visiting as a couple or as a small group of family or friends, there's a spot waiting for you at The Bus Stop. And as you'll quickly learn, each wonderful bus has undergone an ingenious renovation to bring comfort and luxury to your stay, not to mention a few surprises along the way.
Fancy counting the stars as you drift off to sleep? Your glass window above the bed will let you do that. Worried about leaving the comforts of home behind? There's no need; your wood-burning stove, fully fitted kitchen and luxurious bathroom will have you feeling at home in no time. Looking forward to feeling indulged, a world away from daily life? Your private wood-fired hot tub looking out across the stunning Lammermuir Hills will leave you feeling utterly pampered in moments.
Indeed, every touch in Bus One and Bus Two has been expertly planned and perfectly executed to make these handcrafted havens a treat to remember. Huge windows fill each bus with light, which scatters off the beautiful white wooden panelling throughout. Each one comes fully furnished with comfy beds topped with luxurious linens, as well as a comfy lounge area complete with a sofa, dining area and digital radio. What's more, the quality of the finish throughout is truly astounding.
Your handcrafted kitchen offers all you need for cooking up a feast on your bus, including a hob, a microwave in Bus One and a fan oven in Bus Two, a fridge and freezer, the all-important kettle and toaster, plus all utensils, crockery and cutlery. Leading through is your marvellous bathroom, cleverly fitted with a rainfall shower and finished off with heavenly toiletries and fluffy towels. And, of course, both buses come complete with a large private deck each, kitted out with outdoor dining furniture and luxurious loungers to really make the most of the beautiful views (that's if you're not in your hot tub, of course!).
So Bus One and Bus Two may enjoy the same outstanding levels of luxury, but there are a few differences of which to be aware. Bus One, in all its green-and-gold glory, sleeps four between a luxurious king size bed and two bunks (perfect for children but large enough for adults too). Bus Two provides a romantic retreat for two, as well as a bonnie blue-and-yellow exterior. You'll also find a charcoal BBQ on the deck of Bus Two, while Bus One offers a gas BBQ instead. And don't worry - both sit below covered canopies if the Scottish weather isn't playing ball!
Your experience to The Bus Stop doesn't stop at your accommodation - there's lots more to see and do on this friendly farm and beyond. Whatever the season, you'll see all the goings-on of an arable farm, and can even meet the resident horses, alpacas, sheep and chickens! If you need essentials (including freshly laid eggs, ice cream, beer and wine!), you'll find them in the farm larder in the old stable block. You can also purchase alpaca wool products - a unique souvenir of your unique holiday - as well as home-baked goods and local produce.
Take a wander to the remote pond, where you can relax on the bank or take a turn in the small rowing boat. There are also a myriad of grassed paths to explore, while adventurous types can take a map and scale the Lammermuir Hills. You'll find something for everyone in East Lothian too, whether you love cycling, golfing, walking or the beach! And don't forget the village of Gifford, just a 5-minute drive or 25-minute walk from your bus - with its small supermarket, a café, a newsagent, and the Tweedale Arms and the Goblin Ha' for hearty food and delicious ales.
Safe to say, your experience at The Bus Stop will be one to remember. So when will you buy your ticket to ride?
