Lords and ladies of the manor unite, in an exquisitely quirky Tudor house that's perfect for special stays on Dorset's Jurassic coast.

Sleeping up to 22 guests, Symondsbury Manor presents the perfect excuse to grab a carefully chosen group of your favourite people (well-behaved dogs included), and plan a very special trip to your very own country manor!

Nestled behind ancient trees in the chocolate-box village of Symondsbury, you'll be a mere two-minute walk from the local thatched-roof pub, and within a mile lies the spectacular Jurassic coast. Yet you'll have to tear yourselves away from your magnificent Tudor manor first.

As you enter through the gates, your hearts are sure to swell at the sight of the gorgeous honey-coloured house, while the playful white unicorn peeking over a hedge hints at all the imaginative fun and charm to be found inside!

There's plenty of creative, colourful space to relax and socialise in, from the wood-panelled ballroom (complete with grand piano and games), to the light-filled, open-plan living area, surrounded by French windows with immaculate garden views.

Meanwhile, the huge dining table is the ideal setting to break bread and drink wine all together, presided over by a gleaming gilt Cupid - a stage prop from the movies, no less! Whip up elegant feasts in the gloriously well-equipped country kitchen - though you may not want to pass up the chance to have a professional chef cater for you, instead...

You'll have 11 bedrooms to choose from, of which 7 are doubles and 4 are twin. Two of the double rooms link together under the attic eaves; ideal for guests who've brought the kids along with them.

Whichever room you choose, you can expect to discover luxurious furnishings and accessories that include four-poster beds, hand-painted headboards, designer curtains, and hand-printed wallpapers. There's also a lovely selection of books in every room, especially chosen to help you on your way to a sound night's sleep!

Four bathrooms ensure there'll be no awkward morning queues, and some of the bedrooms come equipped with their own shower room en-suite (or a freestanding bath, if you prefer something a little more indulgent).

While away sunny days in the chandeliered garden... tea, cucumber sandwiches, and a little croquet on the lawn, perhaps?  As you indulge in these afternoon delights, let the kids and dogs run wild and free, indulging their imaginations as they splash in the pond and discover the ‘secret' toys dotted around - including a fairground horse suspended in an oak tree.

Fire up the barbecue when evening begins to fall, as you charge your glasses and await that glorious, blazing sunset. Time to make a toast... because your new lives as lords and ladies of the manor are only just beginning!

Things to note

Check in at 4pm, check out by 10am (8pm on Sundays). If you are bringing dogs, please note that there is a small extra charge for cleaning. A travel cot and highchair can be provided on request.

Tried and tested

"The house was splendid. We even managed to dance in the ballroom!  The bedrooms were certainly the best we've experienced in all our years of going on similar weekends at Christmas and everyone loved the artwork and the big open space for eating and relaxing it meant we could all be together."

"Thank you for having us. We had the most amazing weekend at the Manor and are already talking about ideas for coming back! The house is completely amazing and I particularly enjoyed how well prepared the kitchen was, it made catering for such a large group a complete breeze. The rooms were beautiful and the beds so comfortable that they were hard to get out of."

"What a glorious 50th celebration we had at Symondsbury Manor. You feel immediately relaxed. Quite bohemian with quirky touches. Spotlessly clean and homely too. It really was quite a magical place in a lovely setting with beautiful gardens. All our friends are still talking about the party. In fact one called it the party of the century and I would put that down largely to the location itself which was absolutely perfect for friends and family to gather. Would definitely recommend."
