George's Getaway
England / Upper Tysoe, Warwickshire
Full description
A luxurious family lodge with a hot tub and a stargazing dome, beautifully set in rural Warwickshire.
A former stable and chicken coop sumptuously re-imagined, George's Getaway is the newest retreat to be found on the family-friendly Winchcombe Farm, gorgeously positioned amongst soothing Warwickshire countryside (in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, no less).
Sleeping up to six adults and two children, this really is the most idyllic setting for that much-needed family escape. Not only can you immerse yourselves in all the wonders of nature, but you get to do it in unrivalled luxury.
You can expect plenty of indulgent treats at George's Getaway, from a private seven-seater hot tub and an outdoor charcoal pizza oven, to a stargazing geodesic dome with its very own telescope. Meanwhile, you can expect mod-cons galore, including a 55-inch TV for movie nights, and a SMEG-equipped kitchen. Not to mention a welcome basket, stuffed with ripe fruit and delicious cake to munch on.
The lounge windows showcase those amazing countryside views to perfection, which mean you can enjoy them whatever the weather! On sunny days, you might prefer heading out to the furnished deck, chatting and dining amongst the calming sounds of birdsong and whispering trees, perhaps spend an evening cooking up some mouthwatering treats in your very own 8-person barbecue hut!
There are plenty of cosy sleeping spaces for you to choose from, each one boasting ultimate comfort. The kingsize master bedroom features twin freestanding bath tubs...so you can simply climb into the downy bed, straight after your evening soak.
The family suite is equipped with a kingsize bed and a corner bath, with a separate twin room for the children, and a handy ‘Jack and Jill' (two door) bathroom connecting them. The kingsize room also includes a small window that means you can look in on the kids, and check if they've finally gone to sleep!
Whoever gets to sleep in the stargazing dome - resplendent on its own four-metre platform leading from the deck - will be very lucky indeed! Here you'll find a superking circular bed, from which you'll be able to keep an eye not only on the stars, but the visiting birds and the occasional wandering deer.
What to do by day? You'll soon find you're spoilt for choice. For starters, the surrounding woodland area is home to a duck pond and paddock, where you can feed ponies Stan and Queenie an endless supply of carrots.
If you prefer getting out and about, there's plenty of scope for walking and cycling in the surrounding area. You're also just a few minutes' drive from culture-steeped Stratford upon Avon, once home to William Shakespeare, along with picturesque Cotswold villages including Broadway and Stow on the Wold.
Yet if all you decide to do is stay and enjoy George's Getaway to the fullest, then you'll find plenty to keep everybody occupied, from the thoughtful selection of board games and DVDs, to Lego model art-making equipment.
(Who said anything about having to ‘rough it' in the Great Outdoors?)
