Devon Dens is a year-round off-grid woodland garden sanctuary, deliciously secluded amongst the leafy lanes of West Devon.
Offering two secluded timber sanctuaries, Devon Dens is the perfect choice for those looking for uninterrupted tranquility to reconnect with nature and their favourite people, all surrounded by woodland, wildlife and star-studded night skies.
Set in one of the least light-polluted areas in England, you'll find Devon Dens in the heart of Devon's beautiful rural hinterland that's one of its best kept secrets. Many invigorating walking trails pass near the site, through chocolate-box villages and friendly local pubs it would be a crime not to stop in for a while!
Devon Dens comprises a solid, sustainable timber cabin (in its very own, private woodland) including everything you need for a very special break in the great outdoors, all year round. Simply light the fire pit by evening for a sizzling supper, cradling a glass of something sparkling as you gaze up at the stars before bedtime.
There's no need to worry about your carbon footprint, as the site is refreshingly off-grid with solar panels providing light and power - the ideal place to kick-start a digital detox.
The cabin doubles up as a true home-from-home, fully equipped with a comfy double mattress and double sofa bed, with a warming wood burner to keep everyone cosy throughout your stay. Cooking essentials are provided, along with a gas burner and grill for whipping up hearty camp-style feasts. Outside, you'll find a heavenly hot shower and a double chamber compost toilet, along with an area for washing up.
Devon Dens is also delighted to introduce for Spring 2018 a brand new wood cabin, with an unrivalled setting in a natural space, with views over the pond and reed beds, the ideal components for a naturally inspired off-grid digital detox. Comfortably sleeping four guests, or possibly up to 6 with younger children, the cabin comprises a double bedroom and mezzanine level, spacious relaxing area with wood burner, as well as kitchen and bathroom facilities all inside the cabin.
Step outside and you'll not only be greeted with those calming views of the Devonshire countryside, but you'll also be able to enjoy them from the luxury of your very own private decking area, along with an atmospheric fire pit for some pure al fresco tranquility. The cabin is fully solar powered, with panels providing energy for lights and charging points - creating a true eco escape!
By day, why not begin your break by exploring the site, with its swaying conifers, wonderful wildlife pond and an edible hedge planted with plums, cherries, blackcurrants and wild raspberries? Luxuriate in the brilliant three-person hammock whilst dragonflies flit around you, birds sing and chatter in the trees overhead and the soothing stream babbles and flows in the background.
The site's owners are great champions of the local area and are happy to provide you with detailed maps, pointing out castles, gorges and perfect places for a Dartmoor swim. They can also supply gorgeous, local goodies including bacon, sausages, eggs, honey, cheese, wine, ale and cider to seriously whet your appetite!
If a day at the seaside with pasties, ice cream or fish and chips float your boat, the glorious beaches of North Cornwall, some of the finest in the country, are within easy reach. If you're looking for more of a holiday adventure, nearby Roadford Lake can provide a wealth of activity, from bird watching and archery to canoeing and windsurfing.
With no WiFi or mobile reception to distract you from all the natural beauty all around, you'll soon find that time spent at Devon Dens is refreshingly rewarding, allowing you to spend precious time with those you love the most and get happily back to nature. So don't delay, come and live the rural life for a while and see what the buzz is all about!

"This place is spot on if you are looking for a genuine eco getaway. They are the real deal, passionate about the environment, even down to all the timber being sourced within a 15 mile radius. Every little design detail is perfect too, and the setting could not be better. The stars at night were awesomely bright too. Heaven."
"A perfect weekend tucked away from the rest of civilisation. We loved it so much we're coming back next month for another three days! You've thought of everything to make a stay as comfortable as possible and it was completely delightful; a lovely way to spend our anniversary."
