The Fold is a sumptuous collection of hand-built escapes, privately secluded on a family-run Hereford sheep farm. Part of a vast woodland pasture, there’s a wide array of birds to spot, as well as grazing sheep and diverse plant life.

Part of the fourth family generation (and counting!) to farm here, owner Matthew so enjoyed splashing in the brooks and playing on the land as a child, that he felt compelled to share its beauty with guests – in the most creative and environmentally-friendly way possible.

A professional builder himself, Matthew’s plan for The Scandi Cabin was so impressive and inspiring, that its creation was captured on a 2024 episode of the popular Channel Four show, George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces. Awed co-presenter Will Hardie described the cabin as feeling like “a luxury Scandinavian hotel”, which is no mean feat for an authentic off-grid space!

Indeed, every holiday indulgence you can think of is ably supplied. As George Clarke himself mentioned, “no Scandi design is complete without a sauna”, so you’ll find one out on the deck… along with a wood-fired hot tub for stargazing. There’s also an al fresco pizza oven, and a Kamado Joe barbecue-cum-oven for sublime sunset suppers.

What of the soft-toned, woodland-inspired interior? There’s a cosy superking bed with a window perfectly positioned above, so you can drift off into a dreamy night of slumber under a canopy of stars.

You’ll find a glorious copper roll-top bathtub underneath the huge window, too, just waiting to be filled with bubbles. Oh, and the ensuite bathroom comes equipped with a piping hot shower and a state-of-the-art compost loo.

The sleek, well-equipped kitchen means you can whip up feasts of just about every description, against a soothing backdrop of whispering trees. Meanwhile, the living space is home to a plush sofa that stretches across the room, to showcase the Will Hardie-described “very special landscape” beyond.
