A homely, art-filled country retreat with sea views, easy beach access and an al fresco hot tub, beautifully secluded in the historic coastal village of Mundesley for relaxed group breaks filled with warm memories.
  • Sleeps: 14
  • Bedrooms: 7
  • Bathrooms: 2 bathrooms 3 WCs
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

Surrounded by rural loveliness in the coastal village of Mundesley, Norfolk Beach House has been a much-loved family home for over 20 years. Period features, eclectic art-led décor and cosy furnishings combine with sublime sea views, to create a soulful retreat that feels instantly welcoming.

The house sleeps up to 14 guests (plus up to two dogs), and is an ideal setting for making endless, laughter-filled memories in a place that feels like home. Think roaring log-fires, Aga-prepared feasts after long days at the beach – accessible just down the path – and sunset-watching from the comfort of your private garden hot tub.

Generous features include a boot room stocked with Barbour coats and wellies to borrow (plus a shed filled with body boards, buckets and spades), and there’s a mini-cinema room with bean bag seating for epic movie nights in. Meanwhile, the scenic, light-filled Garden Room will become your favourite ever place to break bread all together.

You’ll find plenty to marvel at with the elegant décor and furnishings, too. The hallway is decorated with beautiful ‘Blackthorn’ wallpaper designed for William Morris & Co in 1892, while the rooms are adorned with eclectic local art and personally-sourced antiques.

Each of the seven bedrooms boasts its own style and character, with furniture that tells a story – such as the Savoy Room, whose superking bed and luxury linens come direct from the Savoy Hotel in London. Or choose the Principle Pink Bedroom for a touch of timeless opulence, with its glistening chandelier and decadent slipper bath.

Two attic rooms – The Crows’ Nest and The Lookout – are ideal for the single adults or older children in your group, while two bathrooms (and three WCs) provide space and convenience when freshening up.

You’ll find the garden a genuine pleasure to spend time in… so much so, you may decide to give the beach a miss every now and then! There’s a lawn for croquet, an all-weather table tennis area, and a beach garden with sea views and a sunbathing terrace, plus a barbecue and bespoke oak table for al fresco dining on balmy summer evenings.

More information

(Fascinating fact: the garden is also home to the remains of a World War Two bunker, which now contains the beach equipment!).

Heading out to explore? From the garden gate, turn left to reach Mundesley’s Blue Flag beach – recently voted the second-best beach in the country – or right for the pretty village, where you’ll find pubs, shops, and a coastal church to help while away some time.

You can reach a wealth of iconic North Norfolk attractions in just a short drive, too, including the Victorian seaside town of Cromer, and the famous Broads. Heritage coastal villages, including Cley and Blakeney, are within easy reach, as is the Georgian market town of Holt. In fact, there’s so much to see and do in every direction, that a trip to Norfolk Beach House may soon become a regular – and much-anticipated – holiday fixture!

Things to note

The house is perfect for mixed family groups of up to 14 guests. For adults groups only, the owners recommend 8-12 guests. Note that the two attic rooms are best suited to single adults or older children (not infants) rather than couples. There is a sound system and lighting suitable for small parties, but please note that you will have neighbours – in other words, this is more of a chill-out house than a party house! Chilled-out hen parties are very welcome.
