A sustainable, architect-designed masterpiece built within the breath-taking North Norfolk landscape, filled with wow-factor design elements and just a short stroll away from the beach.
  • Sleeps: 8
  • Bedrooms: 4
  • Bathrooms: 3
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

Sedum House almost appears too good to be true. An architectural masterpiece built directly into the North Norfolk landscape, it’s completely power self-sufficient, jaw-droppingly stylish, and the nearest beach is a mere 15-minute stroll away.

Better still, this is a dog-friendly retreat built not only for awe and relaxation, but fun. Not only is there a huge games room, equipped with everything from darts and table tennis to a Wii console, but a plethora of outdoor games include croquet, giant Jenga, and even trampolines!

Secluded in the peaceful village of Gimingham, the breath-taking retreat is earth-sheltered and underfloor-heated for an irresistibly cosy atmosphere throughout. There’s also a spectacular revolving wood-burning stove, which swivels effortlessly between the first-floor lounge and open-plan kitchen/diner, to ensure all-season warmth.

Said kitchen/diner is amply equipped for family-sized feasts, with all eight guests comfortably accommodated around the large dining table. Though with generous decking areas perfectly placed to catch the morning and evening sunshine (and a charcoal barbecue on hand for sizzling suppers), you may prefer the occasional al fresco meal, instead.

(Oh, and if you’re in the mood for an extra treat, hot tub hire is available for an additional charge).

Evening weather a little chilly? Light the firepit and chat under the emerging stars, or simply head back inside, where the sumptuous lounge will be waiting to welcome you. Butter-soft sofas and a large Smart TV are ideal for snuggly movie nights in, with floor-to-ceiling windows that mean you can still keep an eye on those beautiful garden views.

When it’s finally time to turn in, head down to the ground floor to choose from four spacious bedrooms. The kingsize master boasts an indulgent slipper bath, while three doubles share two generous family bathrooms.

More information

After a sound night’s sleep, a freshen up, and a hearty home-cooked breakfast, it’s on to deciding what you’ll do with the day. And if that amounts to not much more than grabbing a garden sun lounger and getting lost in a good book, nobody would blame you!

For those in the mood to explore, Trimingham is the closest beach; a mostly deserted stretch of sand that’s popular with surfers, hang-gliders, walkers, and the occasional picnicker. For a longer walk, you can join the invigorating coastal path right from the doorstep.

Stock up on holiday supplies in the village, or explore the nearby seaside towns, including Mundesley and Cromer, at your leisure. You could even spend a day on the Norfolk Broads, and return to Sedum House just in time to catch another glorious sunset.

Things to note

There is an additional charge for dogs to stay. Please supervise dogs and children in the garden. No children under 5, though babes in arms are welcome and there is a travel cot and highchair available on request (please bring your own linen).
