If you’re celebrating something special (like a wedding anniversary, micro-wedding or hen/stag party), Westbrook Court is your dream country-house escape.

The former 17th century farmhouse has been renovated in a contemporary style, by interior designer Kari Morgan of Westbrook Interiors. Guests can expect a bespoke pre-arrival concierge service, beautifully comfortable interiors, and sumptuous sociable gathering spaces for up to 26 guests (21 adults and five children).

Everything you can possibly think of for a memorable break is included, from a huge, atmospheric dining hall that seats 21 guests (or more for a canape event) and choices of sitting rooms for smaller gatherings. There’s also a big barn games room with a ping pong table and dart board, and a workshop room for a range of activities.

As if that wasn’t enough, there’s a specially-curated outside dining area, while catching the sunset rays is a huge wood-fired hot tub with an adjacent Kadai area… complete with benches for stargazing in the Dark Skies region.

Back inside, there are nine bespoke-styled bedrooms to choose from. Four – three kingsize and one double – are in the main farmhouse, along with three bathroom/shower rooms, with the remaining five bedrooms in a separate, timber-clad stable-style annexe. Not only are all the guest suites en-suite, but most are spilt-level, with a mezzanine bedroom and lounge. Three also host large single sofa beds, available as bookable extras.

The bedrooms are all family-friendly. One is also wheelchair-accessible, with step-free access to both the room and the en-suite shower. Oh, and if you need to catch up on work, take advantage of the farmhouse’s first-floor study zone, with its two-person desk, Ercol chairs, and glorious views across the lawned front garden.

There are plenty more beautifully-furnished indoor spaces to catch up and chill out in, lavishly adorned with bespoke statement lighting, Welsh sheepskin rugs, original wall art, and gorgeous, cushioned window seats for curling up with a good book.

What the guests of Westbrook Court Country House say

“We had a memorable weekend at Westbrook Court to celebrate a significant birthday – it was lovely to stay in such a historic and characterful building in a beautiful setting. The location was perfect for a group into cycling and walking with majestic road rides over the Gospel pass and around, wonderful tracks over the Begwyns, plenty of gentler routes too, and loads of walks on the Black Mountains. We also enjoyed sitting outside and playing garden games as well as just looking at the views. The accommodation was excellent for the group of 14 adults – there is loads of space to lounge and relax and gather together, and the dining room is very atmospheric and a good size and layout for a big party. The undercroft was great for storing all our bikes. The kitchen was huge and well equipped, and the range was easy to cook on – we did all self catering which was fun. We made a lot of use of the tea-urn, and appreciated the delicious cake and goodies. Hay-on-Wye nearby has good shops for groceries – we ordered what we could locally and collected when we arrived. Thanks Kari for recommendations and prompt communications.”

“We went for my sisters 40th Birthday celebrations and we all had an amazing time. We travelled just under 3 hours to get there so not bad and it was easy enough to find with most of the journey being on stretches of Motorway. The facilities were perfect for a party of 23, which included a lot of children and 4 dogs, the kitchen being the most important feature so as to accommodate all the food and people. Communication between the owner, Kari, and the Big House team was amazing. Would definitely recommend!”

“Fantastic property, well equipped. The view across the valley from the outdoor dining area was stunning. The 5 individual rooms made it easy for keeping the dogs separate when they needed down time. Host information very helpful and detailed.”
