You’ll find Green Lane Carriage stopped close to the ancient Herefordshire village of Eardisley, on a working farm that boasts over 100 acres of orchards (yes, there’s also a fantastic cider shop on site, a walk or short drive away).

Part of the Wye Valley, the rural scenery here is truly spectacular, with views that lead all the way out to the Black Mountains… and on this particular train, it won’t whizz by in a blur!

Painted in vivid green, the former Victorian railway carriage cuts an elegant dash amongst the picture-perfect countryside. Step on board and be greeted by quirky ‘time-capsule’ interiors that effortlessly blend original features and vintage furniture with first-class holiday comfort.

The relaxed, open-plan kitchen/diner boasts a historic open fireplace at its heart, with original seating that harks back to halcyon days of train-travel… yet with an oven, hob, and kettle gainfully provided for contemporary on-board catering.

Ideal for small families, there’s a comfy double bedroom for the grown-ups, complete with a door that leads straight out to the terrace – a wonderful spot for morning coffee accompanied by birdsong.

Meanwhile, the kids get to bed down in a fun bunk room (the bunks are also suitable for adults under 6ft tall) There’s also a gleaming modern shower-room to freshen up in, after that sound night’s sleep.

Ready to explore? If you can tear yourselves away from your carriage, you’ll soon find plenty to see and do in the local area. Eardisley itself forms part of the ‘Black and White Village Trail’, with some of its original timber-framed buildings dating back to the 14th century.
