Waveney Valley Barn couldn’t be more dreamily positioned for a relaxing holiday. Secluded amongst two peaceful acres of Norfolk countryside that border Suffolk and overlook its beautiful namesake valley, your cares will drift away as if by magic.

Welcoming owners Caroline and Hannah fell in love with the then-dilapidated barn almost a decade ago, and immediately set about transforming it into the exquisitely-styled rustic haven you’ll discover today. Filled with luxurious attention to detail, you’ll never want to leave!

For starters, you’ll be greeted with a hamper packed with award-winning local produce, plus tea and fresh-ground coffee to help get your holiday off to a delicious start.

Where you’ll savour your treats is completely up to you. There’s a dining table and comfy chairs under the barn’s soaring beamed ceiling, or take a seat on your private garden patio for a soundtrack of nature and a side-helping of those incredible valley views.

Inside, well-chosen art and eye-catching wallpaper combine with butter-soft furnishings and sleek appliances… with more than a few indulgences thrown in! The gleaming, William Holland-designed copper bathtub is one: all ready to be filled with scented bubbles after a long day exploring the local area.

Refreshed and revived, it’s time for a glass of wine before supper cooked in the well-equipped kitchen, or out on the barbecue. Keep the firepit glowing as you relax in sustainable, comfy Ecofurn chairs and get lost in deep conversation as the stars come out to play.

When it’s finally time to turn in, a gorgeous kingsize bed will be waiting to help you drift easily into a sound night’s sleep. There’s a sofa bed in the living space to accommodate up to two extra guests.

More information

If you can bear it, set an early alarm and be rewarded with the most spectacular sunrise, along with a morning chorus of birdsong that’s so captivating, previous guests have recorded it to listen to at home!

There’s no telling whom you might meet during your stay, since Caroline and Hannah have cultivated their land to attract plenty of diverse wildlife. So along with ducks, swans, barn owls and goldfinch, you might catch sight of grazing muntjac deer and wandering pheasants.

Oh, and you could also arrange to meet the resident chickens, along with Annie and Minnie the sheep… who give the best cuddles!

What else? Unleash your creativity with a private painting tuition session, led by a local artist, or open a good book in the garden, treat yourselves to an in-barn holistic massage or Reiki therapy, go canoeing on the shimmering River Waveney, or relax in a wood-fired sauna cabin on the riverbank (guests receive £10 off a Secret Sauna experience and 10% off water activities).

You could also head further afield to explore the local beaches or wander the towns and cities to sample even more tempting local produce. If, of course, you can tear yourselves away from Waveney Valley Barn’s heavenly confines.

What the guests of Waveney Valley Barn say

“What a truly special spot- not only is the Barn exactly as beautiful as it looks in the pictures but the sense of calm and serenity was beyond words. I’ve recorded an audio track of the sounds at sunset, just so I can play it back to myself to try and recapture the feeling! Caroline and her family couldn’t have made me feel more welcome and those little extra touches like freshly ground coffee and relaxing bath soak were the cherries on top of an already glorious cake!”

“I booked to surprise my partner with a weekend away just before his 30th birthday. I knew he’d enjoy the vibe of the place from the photos but it was even better than I expected. Caroline is friendly, responsive and really going out of her way to make you feel at home in her barn. The fireplace was lit when we arrived and there was a folder with all the information we could possibly need for our stay, including suggestions of what to do and where to visit. We truly had the most wonderful weekend and we’d love to come and stay again sometime!”

“This is one of the best holiday homes we have ever stayed in. Luxurious decorations, homely furnishings and the most amazing bathtub makes this such a comfortable, relaxing place to be. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, wildlife in abundance , peace and tranquillity , it really is possible to get away from it all. The garden is idyllic, full of wildflowers, birds and butterflies. Centrally located for both Norfolk and Suffolk, Southwold, Norwich and the broads all about 30 minutes away. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops just a short drive away. Caroline and Hannah are wonderful hosts, being there if needed but respecting distance and privacy. Their recommendations for places to visit are always spot on. We have been to the Barn many times and we will be returning as soon as we can. We absolutely love it.”
