Featured in the New York Times and Wallpaper, The Sunflower House has been purpose-built on an exposed clifftop near Port de la Selva, to capture truly mesmerising views across the Mediterranean to France, and the surrounding Cabo de Creus National Park.
Created from a series of cubic boxes, each with a huge floor-to-ceiling window that frames the scenery to perfection, the retreat was designed by Catalonian architects to ‘open up’ and drink in the sunshine… hence the name Sunflower House.
From the private garage at the front of the retreat, you can simply make your way up to the ground floor – passing the infinity pool that overlooks the sea on your way – and enter into a beautiful open-plan, underfloor-heated space created for cooking, lounging, reading, and dining.
The superbly-equipped kitchen boasts an island with an induction hob, as well as a built-in microwave, and an Italian espresso machine to charge your mornings in style. Carry your coffee over to the bespoke lounging area, from which you can gaze dreamily over the sea, towards the French coast.
Later on, dine together at the designer aluminium dining table, on sleek Shanghai Hay chairs, to views of the sea and the edge of the National Park.
Entertainment-wise, there’s a reading area with heaving floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and a double sofabed… with an adjustable hanging fireplace too, you’ll be toasty no matter where you’ve chosen to sit! Meanwhile, a revolving bookcase can be made to reveal the ‘hidden’ telly, for snuggly movie nights courtesy of Apple TV.
Sleeping up to 10 guests, there are four bedrooms to choose from. The master double is a thing of wonder, showcasing exceptional views over the sea and the tip of the National Park from the bed and the en-suite bath.
