Secluded near the medieval market town of Morpeth, The Nordic Barn is surrounded by vast, idyllic Northumberland countryside for a break to soothe weary souls.
The Scandi-inspired retreat is expertly converted from a farm building, to provide relaxed open-plan living for up to eight guests. With electric gates and a large private driveway, you’ll feel both welcomed and secure, while the wow-factor outdoor space is a real highlight: furnished for comfort and luxury against a backdrop of sublime rural views.
Inside, accommodation is generously – and conveniently – spaced across one level, with a sociable open-plan living area as its centrepiece. Décor and furnishings are sleek, clean-lined and impeccably stylish throughout.
Spend laughter-fuelled evenings in the sumptuous lounge; furnished with cosy sofas, a suspended bio-fuel fireplace, and a 70” television. The designated chef will have a ball in the gleaming, well-equipped kitchen area, with its central island and bar stools (ideal for chatting over pre-dinner glasses of wine!).
Not only will you have a convivial dining table to enjoy meals around all together – but there’s also a private gym to help you work off the extra calories later on!
On sunny evenings you might prefer to step outside, where you’ll find a covered, spacious kitchen and dining area for suppers with a side helping of sunset views. There’s also a comfy swing chair for curling up with a good book – or simply keeping an eye on those glorious views – and a private hot tub for some well-deserved holiday indulgence.
Back inside, you’ll have your choice of four elegant bedrooms for sound nights of slumber. Comprising a superking with ensuite shower facilities, two doubles and a twin, groups of all descriptions can be easily accommodated. Meanwhile, a second bathroom (with both a shower and a large soaking tub) means there won’t be any awkward cross-legged queues.

More information
Leaving your countryside sanctuary will be difficult, but if you can manage it, a two-mile walk or drive will lead you to the village of Longhorsley. Here you’ll find a pub and a shop for stocking up on holiday essentials, as well as a chance to join the Devil’s Causeway: a Roman roadway said to pre-date Hadrian’s Wall.
Journey on to reach bustling Morpeth, peppered with quaint cobbled streets and historic architecture (if you plan your visit for spring, you may be able to join the annual, three-day Northumbrian Gathering: a lively celebration of Northumbrian and north eastern culture).
Don’t worry if you feel like taking things a little easier, however. There are plenty of gentle country walking routes and irresistible riverside picnic spots to help tide you over until the next sunset rolls around back at The Nordic Barn.
