Old Felton Farm, beautifully positioned in the heart of Northumberland, is home to Woodland Chase Glamping, a sumptuous, adults-only country escape that feels like a well-kept secret.

It’s here, nestled amongst soothing woodland, that you’ll discover a selection of unique, lovingly handcrafted retreats – a Treehouse, a Fieldhouse, and two cabins to be exact. Bathed in luxury, each retreat comes complete with a wood-fired hot tub and a firepit for stargazing… while the extra-opulent Fieldhouse boasts its own private spa.

A true labour of love by the farm’s friendly family owners, Jill and Neil, you’ll note plenty of attention to detail throughout. The Treehouse is absorbed in nature, accessed by a mossy path and a spiral staircase that will make you feel as though you’ve stepped into the pages of an enchanted fairytale.

Inside, you’ll experience a wealth of romantic relaxation-inducers, from underfloor heating and a Chesterfield sofa to snuggle on, to a mood-setting Bose speaker and a stunning, handcrafted wooden bed, draped in soft blankets.

(Oh, and you won’t even need to get out of bed to open the blinds in the morning – simply push the button and the woodland canopy will be revealed as if by magic).

Take your complimentary Prosecco out onto the decking, and gaze out across  the farmland to the sea beyond. Binoculars are provided for an even better view, or you can simply soak in your hot tub, as you chat the evening away with your loved one.

The Fieldhouse is a haven of rustic luxury; surrounded by woodland and overlooking a hayfield for a combination of privacy and outstanding views.  The indulgent spa consists of a wood-heated sauna (followed by a cold dunk bucket if you’re feeling brave!), an invigorating al fresco shower, and of course, a wood-fired hot tub for sumptuous soaking.

More information

Meanwhile, through the French doors awaits a soothing, earth-toned space with reclaimed timber, antique Victorian furniture, and a wood-burning stove to help you unwind in style, before curling up in your handcrafted wooden bed.

Whichever house you choose, you’ll have a private bathroom to freshen up in, furnished with fluffy bathrobes and White Company toiletries (the Fieldhouse features a double-ended slipper bath with sublime hayfield views… you won’t want to get out!)

When you’re in the mood for refreshments, you’ll find your kitchen area gainfully equipped with holiday essentials, including fresh coffee, loose leaf tea…and an indulgent, goodie-stuffed welcome hamper.

Prefer to keep your feet firmly on the ground? Then the two cabins, hand-built from farm-sourced materials, could be more your style. Both offer the same levels of detail and luxury (and goodies!) as the two houses, for a holiday that’s rich in lavish relaxation.

As tempting as it will be to hole yourselves up all holiday long, there’s plenty to explore in the surrounding area. If you like to stray away from the beaten tourist tracks, you’ll find Jill and Neil to be a wealth of ‘insider’ local knowledge, with plenty of suggestions to keep you occupied.

Meanwhile, there are forty miles of unspoilt beaches to discover along the Northumberland coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Or why not take an invigorating hike through Simonside Hills, with their variety of scenic terrains to suit all levels?

If you’re in the mood for a gentle stroll, you could meander through farmland to the sleepy village of Felton, strewn with friendly local pubs. Alternatively, head to the historic market town of Alnwick, to tour the castle and gardens made famous by their use as a filming location for the Harry Potter films and Downton Abbey.

With so much to see and do both inside and out of your idyllic Woodland Chase retreat, you may be in danger of forgetting that real life exists at all.
