The Danish Cabin at Kudhva

An adventurous, wood-crafted hideaway blissfully secluded above a waterfall in a temperate rainforest valley, on a sustainable off-grid site in rural Cornwall that’s close to the coast.
  • Sleeps: 6
  • Bedrooms: 1 (shared)
  • Bathrooms: 1 (shared)
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

Kudhva is the Cornish word for “hideout”. So, if you long to escape life’s everyday stresses and strains, there’s simply no better place.

The 45.5-acre site is set within a former slate quarry, nestled across a wildlife-rich Tintagel hilltop that boasts spectacular views of the dramatic North Cornish coastline. Preserving this incredible natural environment is paramount, so the accommodation you’ll find here is all proudly off-grid, and accessible only on foot, through wildflowers and ancient woodland.

Perfect for adventurous souls, The Danish Cabin is an expertly-crafted, one-of-a-kind hideaway (originally built in five days for a Carlsberg shoot!) that sits above a tumbling 40ft waterfall in its own temperate rainforest valley. A stream meanders past the private decking space, providing a gentle soundtrack for catch-up conversations over drinks.

The vista, meanwhile, takes in whispering trees and the old slate quarry beyond, in a way that makes you feel as though you’ve stepped peacefully back in time… when there were no TVs, phones, or laptops to worry about!

Sleeping up to six guests, the clean-lined, open-plan cabin includes a four-bunk cabin space upstairs, and two sofa-beds downstairs. You’ll have basic kitchen essentials, fresh bedding and towels, so you can pack perfectly light – something you’ll be glad of as you take the scenic 10-minute walk from Kudhva’s reception area to the cabin.

You’ll have access to your own private eco-loo close by, as well as a firepit for cooking under the stars. For a sensory treat, pre-order a delicious breakfast hamper, then start your morning with a sizzling meal cooked on the fire. We’re willing to bet you won’t want to cook inside ever again!

If the weather isn’t playing ball, you’ll find a communal kitchen at reception, with a long, sociable dining table for chatting with new friends (there’s a regular programme of culinary events, too). You’ll also find hot showers and flushing loos here, as well as solar-powered plug sockets for phone-charging, and a small shop.
