Just 10 minutes from Glastonbury, Tall Trees Glamping is a sublime rural escape that comprises four luxurious safari lodges, nestled in a vast field on the edge of the Somerset Levels.

Set in the private grounds of a family farmhouse, you’ll be completely surrounded by nature’s bounty, in the form of wildlife, whispering trees, and a whimsical wildflower meadow. Go foraging for blackberries, or pluck apples and pears straight from the family-planted orchard right by your lodge.

Both having lived in Kenya, owners Natasha and Jono purposefully chose canvas lodges to evoke the fun and adventure of being on safari, yet with all the comfort, beauty, and tranquillity of their much-loved Somerset home.

Each lodge sleeps up to six guests and two dogs, with all the facilities you could possibly need… and a few treats for good measure. A soft-glowing log-burner will warm your evenings to perfection, with blankets and cushions to keep everyone comfy as you crack open a board game together.

You’ll find the kitchen gainfully equipped for meals of every description – though you can order a delicious pre-prepared, home-made meal from the on-site shop, which also stocks those basics that are all too easy to forget. Or fire up the barbecue on a balmy summer evening, and savour a sizzling supper out on your veranda.

(For an extra treat, there’s a state-of-the-art log-burning pizza oven all ready and waiting in the fairy-lit orchard. Just give at least 24 hours’ notice and you’ll be provided with fresh ingredients and a tutorial for the perfect pizzas!)

When it’s time to turn in, you’ll have three dreamy sleeping spaces to choose from: a kingsize bedroom, a twin bedroom, and a double cabin bed. Whichever you opt for, your bed will be dressed in fine Egyptian cotton linen, with cosy duvets and super-soft pillows for a sound night’s sleep.

There’s even a heated towel rail to ward off chilly mornings.

Ease into your day with coffee on the veranda, listening to joyous birdsong and watching nature slowly come to life. There’s plenty of scope for meandering walks later on – perhaps broken up by a tasty picnic – and plenty of food-serving pubs to visit nearby (Natasha and Jono provide a handy Welcome Book that’s packed with local information).

What else? Wells, the smallest city in England, is a short drive away, or visit the Mendip Hills for a trip to Cheddar Gorge and Caves. Perfect for nature-lovers, the wetland reserve at Shapwick Heath is just 25 minutes away, or plan a day trip to the mesmerising Hive Beach at Burton Bradstock; a main gateway to the Jurassic Coast and South West Coast Path.

What the guests of Tall Trees Glamping say

“We had an absolutely fantastic stay here as a family of four — plus our dog! The hosts were incredibly responsive, helpful, and friendly throughout our visit. The tent was exactly as described: spotlessly clean, well-equipped, and the beds were super comfortable. We really appreciated the thoughtful touches like shower gel, hand soap, toilet paper, salt & pepper, oil, bin bags, towels, and more — all the basics were covered. The indoor fireplace and electric heated blankets were perfect for keeping us toasty during the chilly April nights. The BBQ just outside the tent was super convenient, and we even got to enjoy homemade pizza at the nearby communal BBQ area. The kids had a blast on the football pitch, renting bikes, and hanging out in the games room. We had such a brilliant time that we’ve already recommended this place to friends and family — and we definitely hope to come back again!”

“Stayed at Tall Trees with family and friends for my 50th Birthday Weekend. Great venue and great accommodation. Really enjoyed it, would most certainly visit again. Highly recommended if you want to visit Glastonbury. Rooms were lovely and showers/loos were really clean. Everybody in the party spoke very highly of their weekend at Tall Trees. Thank you!”

“This is a beautiful spot, very well located for a number of key Somerset sights. The site is idyllic and very sensitively maintained. The lodges are perfectly equipped and immensely comfortable yet maintain just the right amount of ‘outdoors-in’ feeling. Vanessa was incredibly welcoming and hospitable. We would certainly recommend and would love to stay again if the opportunity arose.”
