A former waterworks bursting with spectacular Art Deco character, situated on the edge of a tree-lined quarry lake in the Cornish village of Ladock.

It’s not often you come across a find as special as the Filter House!  This former waterworks is a vintage lover’s dream, boasting oodles of Art Deco character, period furniture and flourishes, and a marvellous village location in the Cornish countryside.

The Filter House sleeps six lucky guests in secluded luxury.  Found at the end of a quiet lane on the edge of charming Ladock, the location couldn’t be more perfect.  In this quiet and peaceful piece of paradise, the Filter House is set on the edge of stunning, tree-lined quarry lake, and surrounded by an extensive private garden. Beyond is a small wooded area, populated with rabbits who may pay a visit from time to time!

Turn your attention to the Filter House itself and you’ll soon notice the loving restoration which has taken place here.  Built in 1954 by South Cornwall Water Board to pump water to the Roseland Peninsula, the building was retired in 1980 and simply left to fall into disrepair.  It was thankfully rescued by its current owners who, in 2005, set about the considerable task of turning this one-storey building into a truly unique home.

With the huge, cast-iron water filters now gone, today you’ll find an homage to the 1930s instead.  Step through the original sunburst glass front door to be greeted by the spacious half-tiled entrance hall, setting the mood for what’s to come!

Head on through to the large lounge and relax back in one of the antique Chesterfield armchairs, finished in stunning green leather.  You’ll soon notice the abundance of original 1930s furniture and fixtures, from the light fittings overhead to the magnificent sideboards and cabinets.  There are no half-measures here – the Filter House really does offer the chance to step back in time for authentic Art Deco style.

The theme continues throughout the home; Art Deco artwork hangs in the Music Room (where you can have a go at tinkling the ivories!), the monochrome kitchen complete with checkerboard floor brings a super sleek blast from the past, and even the bathroom features a reclaimed ‘30s suite in pink!

Rest assured, however, that you’ll also find modern comforts aplenty at the Filter House.  Wi-Fi, a FreeSat television, and a sound system are all provided for your entertainment, while underfloor heating throughout keeps everyone toasty, even at night time.
