  • Sleeps: 2
  • Bedroom: 1
  • Bathroom: 1
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

Home to a magical selection of bespoke and enchantingly named retreats, Downash Wood Treehouses occupies five blissful acres of woodland in an East Sussex Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Surrounded by soothing, sheep-grazing fields that seem to stretch out forever, and with views across to the shimmering Bewl Water Reservoir, your scene for a relaxing and romantic break is perfectly set.

Coddiwomple Cabin is the site’s latest addition (coddiwomple means, “to travel in a purposeful manner towards a vague destination”… and we couldn’t think of a lovelier name!)

A deliciously secluded haven that’s worthy of the most spellbinding woodland fairytales, you’ll find your cabin packed with luxurious delights… including a gorgeous outdoor hot tub to help nature-spotting and sunset watching along.

Inside awaits an elegant, beautifully furnished space that’s designed for comfort, with plenty of quirky additions that include upcycled lamps, and stag antlers direct from Downash Wood.

Entertainment is more than covered too, with Bluetooth speakers and a Freeview TV, though you may not need it, with such captivating panoramic views of your very own woodland coppice.  Simply throw open the huge bi-fold doors, and invite the outdoors in, as you challenge your loved one to a board game.

When you’re not firing up the barbecue for sizzling suppers, there’s a well-equipped kitchen area with an oven, hobs, and a fridge freezer to help you take care of mealtimes. You’ll find a ready supply of milk, juice, tea and coffee waiting for you, with options to order a range of locally produced goodies, too.

Oh, and since this is a luxury stay, there’ll be no trudging across the fields to find the facilities. Your shower room, complete with flushing loo, is the perfect freshening-up spot after a hard day exploring the local area.

This could take the form of traversing Bewl Water’s mesmerising 12.5-mile reservoir route, visiting the local village of Ticehurst (with an award-winning country pub to hole yourselves up in!), or even jumping in the car and heading for Bodiam Castle, or the coastal charms of Camber Sands and Rye.
