From its snuggly name, you can probably guess that Hidey-hole Cabin, lovingly designed by friendly owners Stephen and Jane themselves, is ideal for holing up with your loved one.

You may not guess, however, that the luxurious cabin is beautifully positioned amongst 33 mesmerising acres of private land and magical woodland at Downash Wood, part of a designated East Sussex Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

And it’s exactly this mesmerising scenery that your cabin showcases so perfectly, whether you’re gazing through the enormous picture window or bi-folding doors (on both sides), or relaxing outside on your canopied deck, which faces the 150-year-old oak tree that was Stephen and Jane’s original inspiration for creating Downash Wood.

You’ll certainly find it hard to believe that you’re only an hour away from the bright lights and hectic bustle of London!

Fully self-contained, the cabin features a fitted kitchen to take care of feasts large and small, although if you prefer dining al fresco, there’s a stunning Chesney’s Heat and Grill log-burning barbecue waiting outside, for sophisticated sunset suppers.

There’s plenty of cosy comfort too, from soft leather chairs, underfloor heating, and a downy kingsize bed that faces the aforementioned picture window…

…which is where nature days transform into movie nights! At the mere press of a button, a projector screen replaces the window, all ready for you to stream your favourite films.

For added authenticity, why not fire up the cinema-style popcorn machine (kernels provided) and break out the classic red-and-white striped tub to serve?

When the credits have rolled, you can leave the blackout blinds down, or adjust them so you can watch the stars before drifting off to a sound night’s sleep.

Freshen up in the shower room – which comes complete with a ‘proper’ flushing loo and woodland scene walls, just in case you were missing those gorgeous views! – and then it’s on to planning your day.

Also new to Hidey-hole cabin and exclusively for its guests’ use is an inviting well-being shelter, where there are swinging hammock chairs, yoga mats and picnic blankets to kick back and enjoy the weather and surroundings.

You could start by heading to the nearby village of Ticehurst for some fresh bread and pastries, or leave your visit until later on, when you can enjoy the charms of the award-winning country pub.

Meanwhile, the Bewl Water Reservoir begins at the bottom of the nearby field, while if you jump in the car, you can visit cultural landmarks including Bodiam Castle, or even head for the beaches of Camber Sands and Rye.

We’ve got a sneaking suspicion, however, that once you’ve introduced yourselves to the sumptuous delights of Hidey-hole Cabin, you won’t want to stray too far away.

Check in from 4pm, check out by 10am. Pets and children are regrettably not permitted. There is a good mobile data signal on most networks. Minimum booking period 2 nights during the week and 3 nights at weekends.
