Preserve a living piece of US history, in the role of a 19th century lighthouse keeper at Mount Hope Bay.
  • Sleeps: 2
  • Bedroom: 1
  • Bathroom: 1
  • Minimum stay: none

Spend a history-steeped night in the role of keeper at a historical US lighthouse, one of the only of its kind to be open to the public.

Part of an educational Lighthouse Keepers’ Program focused on preservation, the role encompasses life and work in the candy cane coloured 19th century lighthouse, beautifully located at the windswept mouth of Massachusetts’ Taunton River.

Travel across 1,150 yards of water to the lighthouse via shuttle.  When you arrive, you’ll note that while there are plenty of contemporary amenities, including solar electricity, a flat screen TV and a well-equipped kitchen, the design and décor you’ll find at the lighthouse is refreshingly true to its original construction in the late 1800s.

You’ll have the entire lighthouse to yourself throughout your stay – ideal for some much-needed relaxation time, getting started on a good book, or beginning an important project.  When it’s time to turn in, you’ll find a cosy queen-sized bed ready and waiting.

If you’re ready to transcend time, protect ships and preserve a special piece of American history all at the same time, then you’re ready to assume the all-important role of keeper at Borden Flats Lighthouse.  History books at the ready!
