An eco-friendly holiday park with a unique twist, Basecamp Tiny House Eco Resort comprises over 30 individually-crafted and styled tiny homes.

Not only is each home off-grid and built to sustainable principles, it’s also secluded in a designated National Park, just three minutes’ walk from Ijmuiden Beach, northwest of Amsterdam.

Amongst the choice of retreats are loft spaces, studios, beach houses and designer lakeside suites. Some are dog-friendly, some have balconies and patios… but all are elegantly furnished, also boasting convenient self-contained facilities.

Once you’ve settled in, relax with a drink in the on-site Tiny Bar, or hire a bike and take one of the area’s many cycling routes (you’re in the Netherlands, after all!)

Explore the Zuid Kennemerland National Park and its unspoilt dunes in more detail, whether on two legs or two wheels, or book a beach activity session. Here, blokarting – otherwise known as beach sailing – is a must!

You could even take an excursion to Fort Island Ijmuiden, a 19th century fortification and a UNESCO World Heritage site that formed part of the Atlantic Wall during World War Two.

But of course, if you’re not feeling particularly energetic then you’ve always got the option of lazing on the sand instead, watching the natural world go by without so much as a care in the world.
