Barford Beach House is a large and luxurious Cornish home-from-home with superlative views of a secluded beach.
  • Sleeps: 12+4
  • Bedrooms: 6
  • Bathrooms: 7
  • Minimum stay: 3 nights

Formerly a romantic 1930s bungalow set within the invigorating Cornish landscape, these days larch-clad Barford Beach House is a magnificent holiday home that sleeps up to sixteen people – ideal for family reunions and groups of friends with something special to celebrate.

Adorned with floor-to-ceiling glass and featuring panoramic views of secluded Wanson Mouth beach, you’ll find plenty to marvel at both inside and out of your gloriously spacious holiday home.

Filled with trademark Cornish warmth and character, Barford Beach House has been designed with beauty, comfort and relaxation all at the forefront.  Step inside the zinc-clad atrium, then take a wander to discover lovingly hand-picked reclaimed and vintage furnishings throughout, giving a soft, cosily elegant edge to your exceptionally designed surroundings.

There is a great deal to discover here, with every new room promising even more fun and wonder than the last.  The bespoke copper kitchen is a joy to spend time in, even for dedicated non-cooks and comes with an Aga…while past the sauna and the cinema room (yes, the sauna and the cinema room) you’ll find an archway that leads you straight to a secret underground party cavern, complete with bar, pool table and arcade games!

Each of the six ensuite bedrooms, found at the top of a suspended wooden staircase and most complete with spectacular sea views, are uniquely styled and furnished in classic ‘storybook’ style, from the ‘Alice in Wonderland’ pages that line walls and bunks created from reclaimed wood. Three of the 6 double beds can be made into twins.

The 50m2 master suite, however, is one you’ll definitely want to claim for yourself!  Featuring its own woodburner, cocktail bar, kitchen, double rainfall showers and golden roll-top bath tub, it even has a porthole through which you can view the rolling waves.

Congregate in the enormous, cosily furnished house living space for cocktails, and then dine at the huge dining table made from reclaimed 18th century granary oak …all featuring dramatic views of Wanson Mouth beach. On sunnier evenings, why not head outside and take advantage of the wood-fired hot tub as you chat the night away, glass of bubbles in hand as the sun sets over the surf?  The outdoor woodburning stove is perfect for those essential marshmallow toasting evenings.

What the guests of Barford Beach House say

“A great few days break of luxury, style and relaxation. Every room is beautiful and encourages respite from the hustle and bustle. Comfortable beds, sofas and chairs. Great views. Great bunker. Superb Kitchen. Beautifully set in a stunning location. We will be back.”
Mike, Anastasia & Grace

“We had such a brilliant time – the whole family yomping over the South West coast path to paddle/surf/bodyboard at Widemouth Bay most mornings and then the bliss of coming back to crank up the hot tub and sauna (what a view!) while the children watched a film in the cinema- we didn’t even care that the weather was rubbish! Most brilliant was once the kids had gone to bed we adults escaped through the rabbit hole into the secret Bunker Bar and made full use of the pool table and bar! Utterly perfect way to spend a birthday weekend. We’ll be back!

“What a house! So many secret doorways and hidden treasures – someone has really pulled it off here – its like walking into a magic fairytale home from home – and everything we could have wanted was right there – they have really thought it all through – from picnic rugs to wine AND beer fridges, cinema room, party room, utility room, wetsuit dunking bucket, outdoor kitchen area, BBQ, cocktail bar for those all important sundowners on the terrace overlooking the sea, and if you are lucky enough to be in the master bedroom (Widemouth) you get a golden bath with sneaky porthole view of the sea!”
