Wolf Wood Treehouses
England / Bratton Clovelly, Devon
Full description
Come and live the high life, in a luxury hand-built treehouse, beautifully nestled amongst soothing Devon woodland.
Friendly, family-run, sustainable and scenic, there's a great deal to love about Wolf Wood, a glorious 13-acre stretch of deciduous woodland secluded amongst Devon's rolling countryside.
Owners Sam and Rachel care deeply about their local environment, and it shows.Teeming with wildlife, and full of natural delights that include a gently babbling stream (that flows into the River Wolf), winding footpaths and vibrant clusters of wildflowers, it's hard to imagine a more idyllic spot to rest your heads.
The same quality of care has been instilled into the luxurious, comfortably furnished houses that stand high above the treetops. Crafted from a combination of sustainable, locally-sourced larch and Douglas fir, the stunning treehouses have been lovingly created by Sam and Rachel themselves...with a little help from the kids, and a team of talented friends that included master timber framer Henry Russell.
Discover Black Wolf Treehouse along the woodland track, with access via rope bridge. Light-filled and lovely, wall-to-wall windows and a spacious deck provide the most spectacular views, while a private outdoor Jacuzzi bath is the ultimate indulgence.
A crackling woodburner will keep you cosy by evening (after a hearty meal whipped up in the well-equipped kitchen), while the wood-lined floor and walls provide a deliciously rustic feeling of being at one with nature. There's a snug bunk room especially for the kids, while you snuggle under quality linen, down duvet and pillows. Oh - and you won't even have to get out of bed to enjoy that golden sunrise!
Meanwhile, the romantic Stargazer Treehouse is reminiscent of a Scandi summer house, with its pitch pine-lined walls and floor. The side-by-side bath on the deck is a real treat, particularly as you watch the sunset together, glass of bubbles in hand. There's an opulent roll-top bath inside, along with an elegant kitchen, soft bedding...and if you've brought the kids with you, a cleverly-designed sleeping shelf.
Finally, latest addition The Lookout Treehouse is accessed by a high rope bridge through the trees - ideal for budding adventurers! Complete with pitch pine-lined walls and floors, there's a separate twin bunk room for the children that features full-size single beds. Freshen up with the invigorating shower or soak in the outdoor Jacuzzi bath - the choice is yours!
Now you've chosen your perfect setting, it's time to explore. Indulge in a little wildlife-spotting, including catching a glimpse of the kingfisher on the river, as the kids go wild (literally!) den building and splashing around. Some of the footpaths lead you to magnificent views of Dartmoor, as you search for the ideal picnic spot.
Further afield lies the charming village of Bratton Clovelly, while the windswept coastline of North East Cornwall awaits for budding surfers! There are many National Trust properties close by, and for those who want to continue the indulgence, how about a cream tea at the famous Hotel Endsleigh?
But for now, simply catch up and reconnect with the people you love the most, surrounded by the most wonderful sights, sounds and smells of nature...and a little more luxury besides. After all...you deserve it, don't you?
Things to note
Children are charged at £15 per child per night.
