Full description
A lovingly hand-built hideaway, with a stargazing hot tub and a green roof that blends beautifully into the hillside on a tranquil Powys family farm.

Secluded on a peaceful and picturesque family farm in Powys, The Burrow is a luxurious hideaway that's perfect for small families in need of a fresh and reviving escape.

Friendly owners Tom and Amy designed and built the retreat themselves, with the ultimate vision of creating a comforting sanctuary amongst nature. Surrounded by paradise-like green views peppered with grazing sheep and cows, and with a gentle soundtrack of birdsong to ease you into each new day, it'll be easy to feel as though you're the only people for miles around.

Yet there's no need to worry about feeling too isolated. Tom and Amy live close by so are on hand if needed, and there are two other cabins on the site, too - The Nest and The Warren - each privately spaced from one another.

Sleeping up to five lucky guests, The Burrow boasts a wealth of sumptuous features, including huge folding doors that can be thrown open on sunny days to merge the expansive patio with the chic and colourful lounge, beckoning the outside in.

On not-so-sunny days and evenings, you'll find a large corner sofa to snuggle up on... simply light the wood-burning stove, then choose your favourite show on the TV to feel ridiculously snug.

You'll find the kitchen equipped with everything you need for family feasting (including the all-important dishwasher to make short work of cleaning up afterwards!) and there's a sociable dining table to savour those home-cooked meals around.

However, sometimes only al fresco nibbles will do... so why not wander down to the nearby stream with a tasty picnic lunch, instead? Later on, you can greet the sunset with a scenic dip in your hot tub, for a truly memorable way to welcome the evening.

When it's finally time for bed, you'll find the master double room equipped with a copper bathtub that's ideal for lazy bubbly soaks, perhaps with an extra glass of bubbles in hand! There's also a three-person bunk room, with access to an indulgent bathroom that features a huge double shower.

What to do once you've woken from that sound night's sleep? Start by taking your morning coffee out to the patio, and watching the abundant local wildlife begin their day without a care in the world.

You could also choose to head out and explore - in fact, when you're in such a beautiful part of the world it'd almost be a crime not to! There are some beautiful walks to take on the farm, some of which lead into the surrounding woodland.

Further afield lie the Elan Valley, with its incredible dams and shimmering reservoirs, historic landmarks including Powis Castle, and even more opportunity to get up close and personal with nature, such as feeding the red kites at nearby Rhayader.

But if that all seems like too much effort, you could simply wander along the winding country lane to the local pub, then amble back just in time to light the firepit, and await the arrival of the stars in that breath-taking night sky.

Things to note

Check in from 4pm, check out by 10am. Pets are not permitted. Please bring torches, wellies, swimwear and towels for the hot tub. There is good mobile coverage, but Wi-Fi coverage may be intermittent due to the rural location.
