Zero Zero Treehouse is part of an ongoing zero-energy project beside The Dome Garden, which is the UK’s longest-running glamping village, set in the flourishing heart of the Forest of Dean.
The high-performance, carbon-neutral re-tree-t isn’t just sustainable, but jaw-droppingly mesmerising. Designed by multi-award-winning architect Andrew Birds, the treehouse resembles a “vertical forest”, with tall columns crafted from the surrounding trees themselves. There is expansive glass throughout, and cladding protected by the ancient Japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban.
You’ll access Zero Zero Treehouse via its very own 20ft rope bridge that soars above a shimmering infinity pond… a truly magnificent way to leave the ordinary world behind and become blissfully at one with the forest.
There’s enough sleeping space here for up to five guests. The magnificent master bedroom-for-two looks straight out to the trees across an open-air shower deck, and has its own en-suite with a sensational smart Japanese WC. Whilst along the hall is the woodland-inspired ‘Trunk Room’: a triplet of cabin-bunks, hidden behind a ‘secret’ door, that can sleep two full sized adults (and a third one up to 5’4” tall).
You’ll find the rest of the treehouse facilities on multi-level decks that are a genuine joy to discover. A light-filled, well-equipped kitchen space occupies one, while a library full of forest books, forest films, forest games and, yes, forest puzzles fills another.
If you head right to the very top, you’ll reach the ‘Skygarden’: a gorgeous rooftop deck with a glass room that drapes over the edge of the building. Surrounded by an aerial pond, the roof opens and closes with the elements, to create a jaw-droppingly scenic space you won’t want to leave, day or night!
What else? Take the timber-crafted spiral staircase down to access your private wellness suite, gainfully equipped with a gym and yoga studio, as well as a sauna, steam room, and an opulent wooden bath for two.

More information
As if that wasn’t quite enough, just step outside and wander along the timber walkway to reach the centre of that beautiful infinity pond… and a rubber-lined cold water plunge pool affectionately nicknamed the ‘Rubber Dub Tub’, that’s perfect for brave souls to jump straight into after a sauna!
Happily, those who don’t like the cold can heat the tub with the wood-burning stove instead, then sit back with a glass of wine (some bottles of which are thoughtfully provided by your host).
If you can tear yourselves away from your new-found forest sanctuary, there’s plenty to see and do. Hire bikes – or bring your own – and embark on your favourite of the vast array of designated routes close by, including the Verderer’s Trail, which Mountain Biking UK called “the best blue route in the country”.
You could also go canoeing on the River Wye, visit nearby Puzzlewood or Go Ape!, or simply hole yourselves up in one of many friendly local pubs – your choice.
