King Offa and Queen Cynethryth’s Cabins

Architect-designed retreats for two, nestled among idyllic farmland close to Monmouth in the Wye Valley, with easy access to Offa’s Dyke Path and all profits supporting the UK charity Jamie’s Farm.
  • Sleeps: 2 per cabin
  • Bedrooms: 1 per cabin
  • Bathrooms: 1 per cabin
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

These peaceful cabins are two stylish retreats, both designed by the award-winning Roderick James Architects and secluded on idyllic Welsh farmland just three miles from Monmouth.

Named after King Offa and Queen Cynethryth, the dog-friendly cabins can be booked separately or together, to sleep romantic couples or a small group of four. Each is identical in design, with toasty sheep’s wool insulation and a wood-burning stove to warm chilly evenings. Whichever you choose, you’ll also have a generous private deck to unwind on, furnished with two Adirondack chairs and soul-stirring rural views.

The surrounding farmland is sustainably managed to support the ecology of the neighbouring Wye Valley and Forest of Dean, with Offa’s Dyke Path running through its heart – ideal for walkers and explorers alike!

Better still, while you enjoy a peaceful cabin stay in the Wye Valley countryside, 100% of the proceeds from your stay will support the incredible work carried out by the UK charity Jamie’s Farm, whose programme regularly transforms the lives of young people.

Luxurious facilities in each cabin include a well-equipped galley kitchen with induction hobs, a combination microwave oven, and a pod coffee machine to charge lazy mornings whiled away on that scenic deck. Your kingsize bedroom also comes with an en-suite shower, for invigorating freshen-ups.

There’s plenty of space to relax inside, with comfy chairs positioned by enormous windows… so even if it’s raining, you can still watch nature’s mesmerising, ever-changing show. Just light the wood-burning stove to feel ridiculously snug as you get lost between the pages of a good book, or in deep conversation with your loved one.

(You’ll have Wi-Fi for additional entertainment if you need it – but don’t worry, this can also be switched off for a welcome digital-free escape!).

You could also choose to head for the market town of Monmouth, and immerse yourselves in history, heritage, and culture. Monnow Bridge – a Grade I-listed building and scheduled monument – is Britain’s only medieval stone gated bridge of its kind, while the Savoy Theatre is the oldest working theatre in Wales.

Wander along Monmouth’s pretty cobbled streets, peppered with independent shops and inviting cafés, without a care in the world, before heading back to catch the sunset from your cosy cabin… bliss.

Things to note

One well-behaved dog is welcome to stay in each cabin. Please note that there is a separate parking area with lit steps guiding down to each cabin. Sturdy footwear is recommended for walking along the paths and surrounding meadows.
