Trust us…you won’t have stayed anywhere like ZERO Box Lodge before.
A perfect base for exploring the thriving coastal city of Porto, the hotel is a shrine to Portuguese art and culture, with bedrooms that are simple, windowless, industrial-style wooden boxes.
(Yes, you read that right!)
With no distracting TV and no windows, you’re all but guaranteed a sound night’s sleep – which you’ll need, if you’re going to experience the city to its fullest!
You’ll find your air-conditioned box equipped with a comfy linen-dressed bed, plump pillows, and a private bathroom stocked with towels and toiletries.
Sleep in for as long as you like; with breakfast served from 7am until 7pm, in the laid-back, O Carniceiro restaurant with long, sociable tables or in shiny City Club restaurant, as you listen to a contemporary Portuguese soundtrack.
Move onto signature cocktails later on, at the Big Bad Bank Bar – an old safe box imaginatively transformed into a funky hangout space; carpeted from floor to ceiling with Portuguese files and motifs, and filled with millons of dollar bills!

More information
If you’re more of a culture vulture, no problem! There’s a bespoke cinema room to relax in, while the hotel’s one-author Bookstop pays tribute to the famed Portuguese author Gonçalo M. Tavares. Here you’ll find with shelves filled with his books, translated into over 30 different languages.
Unwind in the hotel sauna, exclusive to guests, or if you’re in the mood for unforgettable views, the Watertank is a rooftop pool area that promises some of the very best.
ZERO Box Lodge is also home to a Free Room – an inventive concept in which you can sleep for free…in a fully-glazed box that allows people to see inside (this one is definitely not for the shy!)
With so much art, culture and originality all around, you’ll be tempted to stay put. Yet with your location so temptingly central to everything Porto has to offer, it’d be rude not to dive straight in.
Shopaholics are in luck, with the city’s famed, bustling Mercado do Bolhão a mere stone’s throw from the hotel. Medieval Ribeira, with its cobbled streets and artisan shops, is less than a mile away.
There are plenty of restaurants and cafés within easy walking distance, while a visit to the banks of the sparkling Douro river (where you can sample a glass of port in its authentic setting) simply mustn’t be missed.
With warm, friendly staff on hand twenty-four hours a day who make you feel special from the moment you check in (with a tailor-made beer for each guest), an irresistibly cosy box to sleep in, and unique Portuguese art and culture to sample in every direction, who could possibly ask for more?
