Overlooking the iconic castle and medieval county town, Alnwick Tower is a historic, Grade II-listed hideaway for romantic souls.

Boasting unique original features and sumptuous, state-of-the-art furnishings throughout, you’ll want to have your camera ready as you explore! Begin by heading up the narrow stone staircase, into the first-floor open-plan kitchen and diner. Here, huge arched windows flood the room with cheerful daylight, for a wonderful welcome.

The well-equipped kitchen is stocked with a wealth of mod-cons, including a Tassimo coffee machine to kick-start your mornings.  Why not enjoy that first coffee at the breakfast island, chatting excitedly with your loved one about your plans for the day?

There’s also a dining table and chairs for soft-lit romantic suppers, and plenty of cosy spots to curl up with a good book – including a gorgeous ‘reading nook’ on the mezzanine. However, with windows on all four sides, non-readers can simply gaze out at the market town, iconic castle, and rolling countryside beyond.

Head further upstairs to the lounge, which features romantic beamed ceilings and irresistibly squishy seating to snuggle up on… perhaps in front of the Smart TV, after a long day by the coast. And if you’re able to get up early enough, the room’s Gothic stone-carved east window showcases truly spectacular dawn views of Alnwick Castle.

You’ll find the indulgent bathroom located just by the lounge, complete with a large walk-in shower. And when you’re ready, simply head up some more stairs to the second mezzanine bedroom, which wraps luxuriously around two sides of the tower and overlooks the lounge.

Curl up in the superking bed (which is zip-and-link so can also be made up as twins on request) for a sound, silent night’s slumber.

More information

What to do with the rest of your time is completely up to you! But with so many amazing local options to choose from, you may want to take your time over planning it all.

Alnwick Castle is a must, of course; a fascinating monument that dates back over 950 years. Serving as a military outpost, a refuge for evacuees, and a popular film set – with starring roles as Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films, and Brancaster Castle in Downton Abbey, to name just a few – there’s much to discover.

Take a walk across the causeway to visit Holy Island, or head for Alnwick Gardens for lunch at the enticing treehouse restaurant… then how about an evening taking in a show at the Alnwick Playhouse?

With the breath-taking coastline and its quaint fishing villages also within easy reach, you may well be left with the feeling that one stay at Alnwick Tower just isn’t enough!

Things to note

Check in from 4pm, check out by 10am. Regrettably, children, babies and pets are not permitted to stay at the tower due to the very steep stairs required to access the building. For the same reason, large suitcases and bags are not advised.
