You’d never guess that Wilderkin is only 30 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh.
Nestled amongst the wildly beautiful Scottish Borders countryside, tucked away along a gorgeous grass path, is a welcoming, dog-friendly cabin for two… or in other words, the starting point for your blissful re-introduction to nature.
Surrounded by gently rustling wild apple and cherry trees you’re free to pick from, you’ll feel like the only people in the world as you settle into your homely off-grid hideaway, lovingly clad with local larch and Douglas fir.
Oh, and you can enjoy that soothing scenery whether you’re in or out of doors, since the cabin’s huge picture window showcases not only the wide open sky, but views across gorse and heather-strewn slopes that lead all the way to the rolling Pentland Hills beyond.
Meanwhile, you’ll soon discover that going off grid doesn’t mean compromising on comfort, nor those essential holiday luxuries.
A large, crackling woodburner will make the coldest of evenings feel ridiculously toasty, and there’s a downy kingsize bed, dressed in luxury linen, to curl up in at the end of a long day spent in nature.
(For extra snuggliness, you’ll also have a ready supply of cosy sheepskins, warm blankets, and a hot water bottle!)Keep reading

What the guests of Wilderkin say
“It has been an absolute dream. You have thought of everything and have built the most special, romantic, and blissful place. We don’t want to leave!
We’ve spent mornings watching the sunrise and colours change on the mountains through this stunning window, and evenings reading, drawing, and playing games by the fire while listening to Frank Sinatra records. We’ve been swimming in Gladhouse reservoir and said hi to the neighbouring cows! We can’t wait to come back, already planning our next visit.”
