A slice of off-grid paradise with an irresistible feeling of home, dog-friendly and privately secluded on a family farm that showcases the lush, picture-perfect Welsh landscape to perfection.
  • Sleeps: 2
  • Bedroom: 1
  • Bathrooms: 1.5
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

Soothingly off-grid and rich in natural luxury, Ty Ffin (Border House in English) is privately nestled on a Powys family farm that overlooks nothing but wide open fields, lush Welsh valley greenery, and a meandering river.

In other words it’s the perfect place for you and your loved one to unplug from hectic everyday life with your best four-legged friend in tow… being of the firm belief that dogs should have holidays too, friendly owner Chloe even provides blankets, toys, and a comfy bed just for them.

The private, secluded retreat has been cleverly crafted from two mobile homes, each boasting enormous windows to help you savour fresh, idyllic 180-degree rural views all holiday long. That is when you’re not outside, lazing with a book in the portable hammock or shooting the breeze on the deck, over a chilled glass of something lovely.

Once you’ve clapped eyes on the cushion-covered snuggle-sofa, however, you may actually want the weather to turn dramatic and stormy! Turn-able to reflect whichever window-view you like best (will you choose the River Arrow or Offa’s Dyke Path, perhaps?) it’s ideal for cuddling up and enjoying the fruits of Mother Nature’s labour.

The kitchen and dining area, meanwhile, comes equipped with a breakfast bar that’s ideal for coffee and conversation, and there’s a double gas stove with a grill and hot plate for mean home-cooked meals. There’s a large cool-box for food storage, plenty of cooking equipment, and a delicious supply of Welsh cakes too!

If the evening sun is shining, you’ll have the option to cook on the firepit outside, while comfy chairs and soft solar lighting mean you can stay out as day slowly morphs into star-filled night. With plenty of grass and a secure wooden fence that surrounds the entire retreat, your doggy friend will be both happy and safe, too.

When it’s finally time to turn in, you’ll find the bedroom ready and waiting with a cosy double, plenty of storage, a dedicated vanity area with some thoughtful little touches… and the most incredible views to wake up to.

What the guests of Ty Ffin say

“10/10 stay! Chloe was so quick to respond with any questions from the moment I booked. I wanted to book something a bit different and away from any distractions and this was perfect! There are so many little things Chloe has added to the cabins to make the stay comfortable and cosy. From the board games to the deck of cards, blankets, lovely plates/glasses, doggy bits and so much more. The cabin is kitted out to a high standard and is a perfect way to enjoy the outdoors (that’s a lot nicer than camping!) There’s a book on arrival with loads of recommendations in that we used and information Chloe has put together. It was spotless and our pup had the best time roaming about and I didn’t have to worry about him getting out because it was fully secure. A lovely bit of calm!”

“We had the most wonderful stay at Ty-Fin, the location is absolutely amazing and so so peaceful, surrounded by beautiful countryside and lots of sheep. Chloe has thought of everything you need and it is all so clean and modern. Our dog Obi loved the enclosed space to explore and the balls/bowls/blanket provided. We did have heavy rain the one day – but it didn’t matter as we just curled up on the big cuddle chair, had some freshly brewed coffee and relaxed whilst listening to the rain outside. I couldn’t recommend this place more for ultimate relaxation and just getting away from the hustle and bustle of day to day life. Chloe was so welcoming and helpful, you won’t regret coming here! Thanks Chloe for a wonderful Birthday break 🙂 p.s. we also did the four waterfall walk which isn’t too far away, would 100% recommend.”

“Ty Ffîn is such a unique, cosy place. I would 100% recommend this place for a digital detox getaway. There was plenty of space for me and my Labrador inside and even better in the enclosed outside. The views are second to none, especially with the rainy weather it made for such cosy days curled up on the sofa with a cup of tea watching the sheep, swallows and hares in the field allowing for the perfect nature stay. The place was spotless when we arrived, everything had its place but could be moved for our comfort. It was in a perfect location with several great walks nearby for us to explore. Nothing better than coming back to a nice hot shower and a fire after a long walk in the Bannau Brycheiniog region. Chloe was such a lovely host, great communication prior to our visit accommodating self check in for flexibility and helpful throughout or stay providing more ice packs for the cooler to keep our food fresher for longer.”
