The Old Methodist Chapel is a luxurious, eco-friendly haven for up to five guests (four adults maximum) peacefully set in the ancient village of Great Habton on the edge of the vast, rolling North York Moors.
An ideal base for indulging in the good life, Malton – a market town known as the “food capital of Yorkshire” – is practically on the doorstep, and there’s plenty of scope for invigorating country walks, bike-rides, and scenic picnic stops in every direction.
But what of the Chapel itself? Decorated and furnished in the charming, cosy style of a country cottage retreat, you’ll feel relaxed as soon as you arrive. Exquisite stained-glass windows and a soaring vaulted ceiling add natural light, space, and unique sense of character as you unwind over drinks in the sociable open-plan living area.
Here you’ll find plenty of comfy seating, with a Smart TV and a thoughtfully curated selection of books and board games to keep you entertained (there’s even a dedicated reading area to curl up in). Welcome warmth is provided not only by the soft-glowing wood-burning stove but toasty underfloor heating, courtesy of a sustainable air-source heat pump.
Break bread all together in the spacious dining area, which comes complete with a church pew and DAB radio to help you set perfect mealtime soundtracks. You’ll find the sleek modern kitchen gainfully equipped for elaborate feasts and quick snacks alike. Extra treats include a Nespresso coffee machine, to charge sun-dappled mornings spent out on the patio – and of course, complimentary Yorkshire Tea is also provided!
Take the grand open-plan staircase to the first floor – there’s a gorgeous glass balcony with exposed original beams, too – where you’ll find two bedrooms: a kingsize en-suite master and a second twin (or superking, whichever you prefer). Along with supremely comfortable White Company linen-dressed beds, each room boasts a stargazing window, exposed beams, and individual heating controls.
Convenience really is key: not only is there an opulent main bathroom in addition to the en-suite, but also a separate ground-floor WC… all of which promise to banish awkward morning queues! Complimentary bespoke bath salts and White Company towels only add to that delicious feeling of uninterrupted bliss as you sink into the deep, freestanding tub and relax.
