If you had to imagine the perfect setting for a romantic treehouse, you’d be hard pressed to come up with anything quite as idyllic as the Wye Valley (a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, no less).
Surrounded by ancient, wildlife-steeped woodland, and with easy access to a wildflower meadow for private picnics, a stay at The Hudnalls Hideout will introduce you and your loved one to your own secret, utterly magical world.
With some help from the popular BBC show, Escape to the Country, owners Sarah and Ade hand-picked the stunningly secluded spot themselves, then got straight to work on crafting their North American ‘cabin in the woods’ inspired treehouse, in close collaboration with a team of specialist builders.
The result is a jaw-droppingly lovely, seriously Insta-worthy space designed by Studio Six Architecture, built for both comfort and style. Featuring popular designer pieces from the online design brand MADE.COM, you’ll find the grown-ups-only hideaway bursting with sensory treats and you may spotted them featured on Channel 4’s Extraordinary Escapes.
The ‘Scandi-Lux’ lounge area has a gorgeously retro feel, accented by a soft evening glow from the suspended fireplace (trust us, you won’t want to go out!) Meanwhile, underfloor heating will keep you perfectly toasty, as you snuggle up together with a welcome glass or two of wine.
There’s a well-equipped kitchen on hand, complete with those holiday essentials: a dishwasher and a Nespresso machine. Order some mouth-watering treats from the local deli, all ready and waiting for your arrival, try your hand at cooking on the firepit outside…or why not take advantage of the private chef hire available, instead? The Lookout Bar and Larder is a romantic spot for guests to pop the big question, celebrate an elopement or vow renewals or a big birthday toast with a glass of fizz as the sun sets over the valley below you. The Larder Menu offers a range of alcoholic drinks, snacks and local produce to buy.
The indulgent bathroom is equipped with a double rainfall shower; though you may prefer soaking in the gleaming copper bathtub-for-two, which you’ll find outside on the furnished deck. Sunset-watching complete, when it’s time to turn in all you need to do is climb the hand-carved stairs, set into the cedar tree trunk, to your sumptuous handmade loft bed. Recently added also for guests’ sole use is a wonderfully zen and idyllic Woodland Sauna, the perfect spot to enchance your relaxation even further after a day’s explorations.
