A romantic hideaway in the heart of the Wye Valley AONB that’s cocooned in nature, styled with eco-friendly luxury, and completely surrounded by wildlife.
  • Sleeps: 2
  • Bedroom: 1
  • Bathroom: 1
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

Beautifully nestled on the edge of the magical Forest of Dean, in the beating heart of the Wye Valley, Owl’s Nest Hideout is a romantic escape that breathes in harmony with its magnificent natural surroundings.

You’ll discover the stylish eco-barn surrounded by ancient woodland, in easy walking-and-picnicking distance of the shimmering River Wye, and boasting a Scandinavian wood-fired hot tub to help you welcome the sunset and stars (available to hire at an extra cost).

There’s a blissful sense of being miles away from anywhere in particular… a sense that makes it hard to believe that bustling London is a mere three-hour drive away!

And while you’ll be sumptuously secluded in this natureful paradise, you’ll have plenty of visiting wildlife to keep you company. You just never know who you might see and hear on any given day, from owlets, wrens, and swallows to peaceful grazing deer. There’s also the resident rescue sheep who ‘mow’ the meadow, strewn with flora and fauna that the owners have purposefully planted to encourage diverse wildlife.

What of the barn itself? The interior has been styled with exceptional care and charm, and there’s plenty of luxury that’s worthy of a romantic getaway. Toasty underfloor heating and a log-burning stove will warm cooler evenings to perfection, and there’s plenty of sheltered al fresco space, cosily furnished for you to sit back and watch the natural world go by.

(You’ll have Wi-Fi and a TV with Freeview, too. Though with such wondrous natural views to keep you entertained, we wouldn’t blame you if they remained unused all holiday long!)

Facilities include an indulgent, gleaming bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen, complete with a Nespresso coffee machine to charge birdsong-soundtracked mornings. Extras include an option to hire a private chef; perfect for those who don’t feel like doing their own cooking on holiday! Though if you do, there’s a selection of cookery books on hand for culinary inspiration.

What the guests of Owl’s Nest Hideout say

“What a beautiful place. If you are looking to get away from it all then look no further. This cottage is just outstanding and the setting is beautiful, the hot tub is a must. Listening to the owls late at night and relaxing is just bliss. The host Lucy is lovely and happy to answer any questions you have. The cottage itself is full of character and finished to the highest standard and very welcoming. The local pubs are a must for food and local beer. If you book this venue you will be in for a treat as it’s just perfect in every way. We are hoping to go back soon.”

“My boyfriend and I had the absolute pleasure to stay at The Owls Nest from 17th – 19th February for a Valentines get away. The Owls Nest overlooks stunning views of the forest of dean. Listening to the birds and wildlife was so peaceful and tranquil, such a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The Owls Nest cottage is beautifully presented and we loved all the personal touches such as the fairy lights and candles. The home is kept in immaculate condition and the place felt so clean and comfortable for our stay. We hired the eco hot tub for the weekend which was a treat to relax in with a glass of wine while soaking up the nature. We made friends with ‘Tobs’ and the gang (you will get to know them well!!) who we loved seeing every morning! If you are looking for a peaceful escape surrounded in untouched nature, while lazing in front of a log fire, then we couldn’t recommend The Owls Nest enough! Thanks to our host Lucy for sharing the piece of paradise with us. You have created such a magical and special sanctuary in The Forest and we cannot wait to come back again in the near future.”

“Owl’s Nest was absolutely beautiful! The barn was full of character, surrounded by nothing but wildlife. The barn itself was super cosy, we enjoyed every moment staying there. Every day was a treat, waking up to the birds singing and watching them on the bird feeders. The owl’s hooting at night was a magical experience. We would definitely recommend a stay at Owl’s Nest. If you love the outdoors and have a love for wildlife, this place will suit you!”
