The Hexagon
- Sleeps: 2
- Bedroom: 1
- Bathroom: 1
- Minimum stay: 4 nights
The Hexagon is a retreat that makes the absolute most of its beautiful West Mersea location.
A former radar tower, there’s a spectacular viewing platform that looks over the bird-steeped Essex marshes. Meanwhile, the main living space boasts eight huge folding glass doors that showcase the enclosed garden and meadow beyond.
There are no immediate neighbours here, making this a particularly perfect retreat for a romantic couple – and their dogs (and even their children, if they pack a tent for them to sleep in!).
The ground-floor living space is fully self-contained, with a well-equipped kitchen and a bedroom with en-suite facilities. The thoughtful owners have even added a wood-burner to the viewing platform, so you can bird-and-sunset-watch while feeling deliciously toasty, even on chilly winter days.
If you feel the need to head back into civilisation during your stay, the yacht marina and shops are accessible in a short drive, and there are plenty of cafés and eateries in the local area. Otherwise, take one of the many intriguing footpaths right from the tower and see where it leads!
(One in particular leads to the marina at Tollesbury via the sea wall, which is a walk of dreams… so make sure you bring your camera).
