From the moment you and your loved one arrive at Hollow Heath Hideaway, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into the pages of a whimsical fairytale. Uniquely and exquisitely crafted for lovers, dreamers, or anyone who wants to escape the hectic outside world for a while, this ultra-romantic cabin is completely private and utterly beautiful.

The Hideaway sits within the owner’s grounds, in its own secluded space beside the enchanting Needles Eye Wood. Also set on the edge of the Roman River Valley Nature Reserve, you’ll be surrounded by pure woodland tranquillity, yet with a little theatricality for good measure!

Gloriously spacious and immediately welcoming, the Hideaway’s open-plan layout oozes quality and supreme attention to detail throughout. The four-poster superking bed – dressed in fresh Egyptian cotton linen – takes centre-stage, along with a roll-top copper bathtub for sumptuous, unhurried bubble soaks. Meanwhile, the separate rainfall shower is perfect for those quick morning freshen-ups.

Whip up leisurely breakfasts and romantic suppers alike in the well-equipped kitchenette, which comes complete with a fridge, separate wine fridge, hob, oven, kettle and toaster. There’s also a coffee machine and a hot chocolate maker, for those who enjoy deliciously indulgent beverages.

Outside, your private garden boasts a wonderful wealth of treats, including a hot tub for stargazing, a patio for sunlit conversation (perhaps accompanied by a glass of fizz), a day bed for lounging, and a firepit for laughter-fuelled storytelling. Fairylights and a fountain add elements of wonder, creating the perfect backdrop for extra-special occasions, such as proposals, mini-moons, birthdays and anniversaries.

Spend your evenings luxuriating in the combined glow of the stars and the fairy lights, take a relaxing dip… or simply do very little at all, the choice is yours.

How to while away your daytimes? Nobody would blame you for lazing in the garden with a good book and a glass of wine, listening to the joyous birdsong without moving so much as a muscle. Otherwise, there are two country pubs within walking distance, with some beautiful woodland walks close by. For those in need of a little extra pampering, Kingsford Park Spa is just down the road.

Local dining options range from Michelin-starred restaurants to the aforementioned cosy country pubs, and of course, nearby Colchester, Abberton Reservoir and Mersea Island all offer plenty to explore… but only if you can bear to leave!

Things to note

Although the usual minimum stay is 2 nights, single weekday nights can be booked direct from £295. Friday–Saturday stays are £640 for two nights. No cleaning fee. The hideaway sleeps two adults and sits within the owner’s grounds, with its own secluded garden. Check-in is from 4pm and check-out is by 11am. Guest pets are not permitted; two small family dogs live on site. No smoking or vaping indoors, candles or fireworks, and no glass near the hot tub.

Emma answered every enquiry promptly and personally, I never felt that I was disturbing her at all. My partner felt like a King and this magical place was a dream come true!”
