Sycamore Lodge is secluded among six acres of countryside at Toppesfield Hall, in private woodland set by wide open fields on the Essex and Suffolk border. Perfect for a couples’ or small-family escape, one small dog is also welcome, so everyone can enjoy a well-deserved break!
The Scandi-style A-frame retreat boasts its very own enclosed garden, where you’ll find plenty of seating for luxuriating in the sunshine together. Oh, and not forgetting the al fresco hot tub, screened for privacy and primed for relaxation. Or, for an extra touch of indulgence, why not book a private woodland sauna session, complete with a cold water drench shower and time to relax on the sauna deck?
Inside awaits a clean-lined, cleverly-designed open-plan space with everything you’ll need for a comfortable stay, including a Smart TV and Amazon Dot speaker for evening entertainment. The compact kitchenette, meanwhile, is well-equipped with a fridge, oven, and hob for whipping up light meals and snacks. There’s a microwave for extra convenience, while outside awaits a charcoal barbecue and firepit for sizzling suppers.
Later, savour sound nights of sleep in the loft-style double bed, accessed by a ladder for that ‘fun sleepover’ feel. Just beneath is a cosy sofa which converts to a second double bed – ideal if you’ve brought the kids along.
Wander out to the veranda, where you’ll find a separate, modern shower room with a sink and toilet, and a kitchen sink with fresh running water. You’ll never want to wash up inside again!
While you’ve got the option of doing nothing but curling up with a good book and a glass of wine, there’s plenty to keep you occupied on site. For starters, you’ll have free rein of the tennis and games court, as well as an indoor games room with table tennis and football, pool, darts, and even a boxing punch bag. There are play-vehicles available for young children, too.
Otherwise, hire pedal bikes and explore the countryside, or take a five-minute stroll into the charming and characterful Toppesfield Village. Here you’ll find a dog-friendly garden pub, a community shop, and a village green that’s perfect for picnics and family games. You can also sample local beverages from Toppesfield Brewery, if the mood should strike!
