The Solo Houses project has been making huge waves in the architectural world, with very good reason.

Set in Cretas, a natural and untouched forest setting in the mountainous Spanish region of Matarraña (known as ‘Spanish Tuscany’), the ongoing project comprises a one-hundred hectare site, on which a ‘resort’ of fifteen architecturally unique houses and a hotel will be built.  

The brainchild of a Paris-based couple with a passion for architecture as art, each house will be individually designed by international, cutting-edge architects – letting their creativity run wild!

Set close to a natural park near Barcelona, the area itself is naturally wondrous, peppered with olive and almond trees, rivers and sparkling waterfalls. Though Barcelona Airport is a mere two hours away by car, you’ll feel as though you’ve been transported to whole new world as soon as you arrive.

Solo Office, a house brought to life by Belgian architects Office KGDVS, is a house unlike any other. Just like a Picasso painting, it takes the standard components of a house and rearranges them in breathtaking style, making for a completely unique and immersive stay.
 
Located on the edge of a plateau that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and sleeping up to 6 people, the circular house almost disappears within the forest, emphasising and showcasing the natural surroundings to maximum effect.  Glass, concrete, steel and marble are used to their greatest effect, and the house is filled with light, sensory illusion and clever reflections.

Inside, discover broad glass panes and four columns that separate Solo Office into stunning living space, a sleeping area, a guest house and a pool house.  With curtains for privacy when needed, almost every part of the house can be opened up completely (with the exception of the bathing areas) – leaving you to revel in the wild, flourishing beauty of the Spanish forest.

Inside, you’ll find bespoke art and furnishings created by up-and-coming designers, with abstract pieces on the roof cleverly designed by Belgian artist Pieter Vermeersch. In fact, at Solo Office you’ll feel as though you’re staying in a living, breathing work of art.

Outside, you’ll feel completely at one with nature, with vast, wildlife-steeped woodland at your disposal to wander through. Further afield, there are plenty of opportunities to try your hand at a range of invigorating outdoor adventures, while the soft beaches of the Ebro Delta nature reserve are accessible within 45 minutes by car.

Things to note

Pets are permitted to stay upon prior arrangement. Minimum stay three days all year/5 days July/August. WiFi is provided and offers very good connection.  Very good mobile coverage is also available. Catering services are provided if needed.
