Gloriously secluded by a quiet country lane in Llandyssil, a quaint village close to the Shropshire border, Plas Robin Rural Retreats comprise three stunning, contemporary lodges that each sleep 4 or 6 guests in rural comfort.
Set amongst 35 acres of private pastureland, you can feast your eyes on spectacular valley views that lead all the way to Powis Castle, whether you’re enjoying an al fresco supper on the patio, or gazing through the large bi-folding doors.
Each lodge has been bespoke-designed and lovingly constructed from local materials, including reclaimed Welsh slate, locally-grown cedar, and stone direct from a nearby quarry.
Shepherd’s Rest and Ty Hiraeth (Welsh for “house with a sense of coming home”) each sleep up to 4 guests, making them ideal for a small family.
Both lodges feature all-ground-floor accommodation, with welcoming open-plan living spaces, squishy sofas, and toasty underfloor heating… though if you’re in need of extra warmth, simply light the wood-burning stove and turn on the TV, for a ridiculously snuggly evening in.
There are two bedrooms to choose from: a master superking room with direct access to the patio, and a cheerful twin with zip-and-link beds that mean you can create a second superking if needed. Both rooms feature a TV and plenty of storage space.
The twin bedroom boasts an elegant en-suite shower room, and the opulent family bathroom a rolltop bath that was made for filling with indulgent bubbles… which the owner has thoughtfully provided. You’ll also find a stack of monogrammed towels and robes to wrap yourself up in afterwards.

What the guests of Plas Robin Rural Retreats say
“The attention to detail was very high and the owners were so friendly and welcoming and always happy to help. We received a hamper on arrival which made the experience even more remarkable. We were also provided with an information folder of the area and recommendations which were really useful. The views of the lodge were stunning, you could waste hours just sitting there watching and relaxing. This Lodge really does feel like a proper holiday and not just a stay in the UK. Would highly recommend.”
“The accommodation is beautiful with incredible views and everything done to such a high standard. The hot tub is a lovely addition and we really enjoyed looking at stars. Carol and her family are super friendly and helpful. We can’t wait to come and stay again!”
“You could not wish to stay at a more amazing place. Firstly the hosts Carol and David were so welcoming and the property was amazing – everything absolutely perfect, would not hesitate to recommend this place. A special mention to Meg the Collie Dog who we adopted for the duration of our stay! Will most certainly return. Didn’t want to leave.”
