A short drive from the historic town of Hella, Nest Retreat Iceland is a perfect for exploring the country’s famed Golden Circle and volcanic south coast. Yet once you’ve settled in, you could be reluctant to leave the vast, incredible beauty and pure tranquillity to be found here.

There are just two privately-spaced couples’ retreats to choose from. Each one is furnished in minimalist Tiny House-style, with a cosily-dressed, window-facing double bed, a kitchenette and shower room, and decked al fresco space with a barbecue grill – ideal for sizzling suppers by sunset.

You’ll also have your own hot tub to stargaze (and perhaps watch the Northern Lights) from, and for an extra treat after a long day, the shared on-site sauna can be privately booked just for you.

While Wi-Fi is provided, you’re unlikely to want to use it. Watch the abundant birdlife from your chosen retreat instead, or pack a picnic and take a dreamy riverside walk.

You could also travel into Hella to stock up on supplies, and take part in adventures that include exploring the sandstone caves (where Irish monks were said to have settled centuries ago), or driving through the black sand beach in a Polaris 1000 buggy!
