Visible from the road, Muckrach Castle cuts an impressive dash on the Speyside horizon… ideal for an event worth celebrating, with your favourite people in tow!

Overlooking the River Dulnain in its own vast, private grounds, the 16th century tower house was once a proud ancestral home. Rescued from ruin in the late 1970s, these days the magnificently restored retreat sleeps up to 10 guests in elegant, historic comfort.

Savour those magical soul-stirring views over the Spey Valley and Cairngorm Mountains before you get stuck into exploring your brand-new holiday home – which could take a wondrous while!

That’s because your accommodation is generously spaced across four main floors and two tower rooms, each filled with fascinating attention to detail and some boasting carefully preserved original features.

The first floor is home to the Great Hall, which offers a perfect setting for relaxation and entertainment alike. Antique pine panelling and a wood-burning stove evoke pure comfort, while cosy window seats showcase that glorious Highlands scenery. There’s a TV and DVD player for snuggly evenings in, too.

You’ll find the romantic master bedroom – complete with an antique four-poster bed and freestanding bathtub – on the second floor, with a shower room conveniently close by. The third floor, meanwhile, is home to a tower bunk room with quirky tartan décor, two more twin rooms, and a family bathroom.

There’s more sleeping-room at the top, just above the fourth floor for those who don’t mind taking the spiral stairs.

Things to note

There will be an additional charge if bringing your dog/s to stay. One large dog, or two medium/small dogs are permitted. Regrettably, this retreat is not suitable for guests with additional mobility needs due to the steep and winding stone stairs to the bedrooms.
