Experience a first-class Victorian retreat with a ‘time capsule’ feel, set in a tranquil North Norfolk paddock with abundant wildlife and woodland views

Set in a south-facing paddock, just two miles from the charming village of Melton Constable, is a railway-carriage retreat plucked straight from the Victorian era – when train travel was at its most elegant.

Step aboard to find many original features left perfectly intact, including brass fixtures and delicate stained-glass light fittings, to evoke a soothing sense of stepping back in time.  Yet there are plenty of mod-cons too, including a Smart TV to help you unwind in the evenings.

Sleek facilities include a well-equipped kitchen area for on-board catering, and an en-suite shower room for freshening up in style.

All that’s left to do is sit out in that gorgeous green paddock with a book and a glass of wine – you may also be able to spot some of the local wildlife going about its day – or head into the village for a meal you didn’t have to cook.

If you feel like exploring, there are plenty of pubs in the local area, along with National Trust properties and the sweeping North Norfolk coast, that mean you won’t have the chance to get bored!

Curl up in the carriage’s cosy walnut bed at the end of another amazing day, as you dream about booking a return trip sometime soon.
