Llanfair Caereinion Hill Huts

A classic storybook-inspired retreat with quirky round windows and a stargazing hot tub, nestled within the lush, grassy hills of an ancient Powys village.
  • Sleeps: 4
  • Bedrooms: 2
  • Bathrooms: 2
  • Minimum stay: 3 nights

You’ll feel as though you’ve stepped between the pages of an iconic fantasy book, the moment you arrive at Llanfair Caereinion Hill Hut.

Built right into the lush, green countryside hills of Powys, you’ll be welcomed by quirky features that include a round door and windows, curved walls, and creative rustic furnishings that evoke a welcoming sense of home.

Perfect for a small family or two couples, the cosy hut sleeps up to four guests in two elegant double bedrooms. And since each bedroom features its own en-suite shower room, there’ll be no awkward queues for morning freshen-ups!

Once you’ve claimed your favourite bedroom, simply pop open a bottle of bubbles and relax with catch-up conversation in the sociable open-plan living space. Complete with plenty of soft seating and plump cushions, here you’ll also find a well-equipped kitchen area, and a dining table with comfy stools.

Though if you’re in an al fresco kind of mood, all you have to do is head out to your private patio for a sizzling barbecue supper, enjoyed with a side-helping of blazing sunset. Later on, why not complete your evening with a dip in the private stargazing hot tub?

The furnished patio is also perfect for that first coffee of the day, after a sound night’s sleep in your chosen bedroom. Awaken to a gentle soundtrack of birdsong and rustling leaves, as you plan out the day ahead.

If all you feel like doing is devouring a hearty home-cooked breakfast, then pouring a second cup of coffee and getting lost in the pages of a good book (may we suggest one with “rings” in the title?) – then to be honest, we couldn’t blame you!

More information

But if you decide to embark on an epic quest of your very own, you’ll find plenty of scope in the surrounding area.

Steeped in history, the quaint village of Llanfair Caereinion is fascinating in itself; built upon the site of a Roman fort, and with the site of the 1295 Battle of Maes Moydog close by.

The village also hosts an annual carnival, and there’s a beautiful Banwy river walk that leads to a botanical garden, complete with myriad species of trees. While away some gentle time here, before hopping on the heritage steam railway to bustling Welshpool, a market town that’s just under ten miles away.

Slightly further afield lie the abundant charms of the Snowdonia National Park, where if you’re feeling energetic (and brave!) you could hike to the summits of Pen Llyn, or Snowdonia itself.

Savour a tasty picnic at the nearby Ffrwd Fawr Waterfall, before heading back to your warm and welcoming hill hut for another enthralling evening in.
