Experience a sky-high holiday… without ever leaving the ground!
Until now, sleeping on an airplane meant thin blankets, cricked necks and a lack of personal space. But all that changes at Jumbostay – undoubtedly one of the world’s coolest hostels. With 33 rooms and 76 real beds on board, you can look forward to an unforgettable night in total comfort – that is, if you’re not too excited to sleep…
With its white wings and fuselage, and blue nose and tail fin, Jumbostay still looks like an original 1976 Boeing 747 from the outside. However, get a bit closer and you’ll see it’s been ingeniously modified with a range of unique sleeping cabins, a café and even an incredible observation deck running along the wing!
Inside, a variety of bedrooms are sure to suit every frequent flyer’s personal preference and budget. Enjoy the full hostel experience in one of the single-sex Dorm Rooms, each sleeping either two or four people in clean and cosy bunk beds. Or you might opt for a little more privacy in one of the private bedrooms, which vary in size to sleep between one (great for single or business travellers) and three.
These rooms all have access to either private or shared showers, as well as shared WCs in the corridor. However, there is one single bedroom with its own en-suite facilities if you’d rather not share. And, whichever you choose, all rooms benefit from a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. Now how’s that for inflight entertainment?
For something even more unique, why not try one of Jumbostay’s inspired Engine Rooms or Wheelhouse Rooms? Accessed via private staircases from the runway, each sleeps one apiece and are found where their names suggest. The Engine Rooms are located in the original jet engines, each one cleverly converted into a cylindrical bedroom, while The Wheelhouse Rooms are found underneath the plane, each also featuring a private WC.
Every airplane needs a first-class compartment though – and Jumbostay has two! Yes, for a full luxury experience, why not book a night in an extra special suite? The Black Box Suite is located at the rear of the plane, offering a comfy double bed, oodles of space and a fabulous feature wall of fluffy white clouds for a peaceful flight. Or opt instead for The Cockpit Suite, where two adjustable beds lie in front of the original control panel, and you can wake to panoramic views through the pilot’s windscreen. Both suites also have their own en-suite bathrooms and a decadent minibar.
