Steeped in welcoming warmth, arriving at HOF Hut is an enchanting experience in itself. You’ll find the romantic hut on the edge of a sleepy village in rural Devon, surrounded by verdant green fields and the golden foothills of Yes Tor, Dartmoor.
You’ll also discover a world of sensory delight that takes a mix of Scandi design and Japanese Wabi Sabi aesthetics as its laid-back inspiration. High-quality linens and relaxed ‘rural chic’ styling meets exquisite handcrafted furniture, fixtures & fittings created from repurposed materials by owner Siobhán.
The sleek kitchen comes equipped with everything you need to whip up feasts of just about every description, including a Sunday roast if you don’t feel like venturing out to the pub. There’s also a panini sandwich toaster to help lazy summer afternoons along.
Even hot drinks are given an upgrade here, with a coffee-grinder, an Aeropress, and an indulgent Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser ready and waiting, with plenty of marshmallows of course. Oh, and did we mention you’ll also be treated to seasonal home-baked pleasures such as a Devonshire cream tea, crumble, or mince pies?
You’ll be spoilt for choice of places to unwind, whether you’re in front of the TV or curled up with a book in the lounge area, woodburner roaring in the background… or out in the open air.
Here you’ll find a handcrafted, continuously heated Japanese Onsen hot pool that’s large enough to float in (in Summer this is used as an excellent plunge pool for cooling off) and a compact Finnish-style Eco sauna (completely handbuilt by Siobhán) with handmade woollen seating pads and soft under-seat lighting. After your session, revive your senses in the invigorating Tree Shower, then simply wrap yourselves up in the fluffy White Company robes and slippers provided to feel ridiculously relaxed.
Meanwhile, the surrounding mature garden is home to a hammock, barbecue and firepit as well as your own private carpark. Sunbeds and a parasol are provided and if you’re lucky, seasonal fruit for the picking. You might also catch a glimpse of Siobhán and Tim’s cat Bob, or dog Tia… who’s a big fan of a ball-throw!
