Savour spectacular views over the Panchoy Valley and the surrounding volcanoes, as you sip creative house cocktails and enjoy a mouthwatering seasonal dish in the restaurant. What a way to begin your dream holiday.
If you really want to live the fantasy, choose your favourite eco-casita to rest your heads in. Constructed from local materials and crafted in authentic storybook style, each house features a green, flower-strewn roof, with round walls and doors that will make you feel like a character in a fairytale. You can choose from three cozy cabins, each suited for either solo travellers, couples, families, or groups of up to six people. Constructed from local materials and crafted in authentic storybook style, each house features a green, flower-strewn roof, with round walls and doors that will make you feel like a character in a fairytale.
Inside, you’ll find a comforting fireplace, warm blankets and quirky, handmade furniture that includes tables made from logs, and beds created from wooden trunks. Fresh flowers and vibrant pops of colour throughout add a homely feel, while large windows open out onto amazing views of three looming volcanoes – one of which is active!
Freshen up in the piping hot rainwater shower, then – if you can tear yourselves away from the comfort of your eco-casita – get ready to indulge in some activity.
The village is scattered with stunning hiking trails, for you to really get under the skin of this exceptionally scenic area (you may even meet the friendly resident dogs, cats and goat along your way!) You can also arrange an archery and machete-throwing session, or fly high into the sky on Central America’s largest tree swing…

What the guests of Hobbitenango say
“We stayed one night in the Casita “El Sueño”. They told us to arrive early to enjoy the whole day. So we came at noon. It is a magical place! The panorama restaurant has views over the three volcanos and the food (lunch dinner and breakfast) is delicious. The little hut has everything. Garden with private terrace and views over the amazing landscape around Antigua. Also there is a great bathroom with sauna and hot water. In the night they make a fire in the huts because it can get pretty cold on the mountain. It was a perfect stay! If you stay in Antigua you shouldn’t miss this getaway!”
“Hobbitenango was one of the highlights of our trip to Guatemala. We only stayed for one night, but would have definitely stayed longer had our circumstances allowed. The casitas are beautiful and so well crafted (even the shower was one of the best of our stay), we couldn’t take enough photos! Thank you to the creators of Hobbitenango for bringing this little gem into existence.”
“This place is beautiful, can’t recommend enough. Thought it might be gimmicky but it’s so well designed and has a great atmosphere. I loved how many locals also seemed to love the place, think that’s a good sign. Spent the whole time planning an alternative existence when I would also build an amazing place on the top of a mountain… you should go. Oh, and there’s a volcano constantly spewing that you wake up to. Such a cool experience. Inspirational aesthetics everywhere you look.”
