Imaginative, charming, and filled with careful attention to detail, Hattie the Horse Box is – you guessed it! – a vintage horse box, lovingly converted into a romantic couples’ retreat.

Sumptuously nestled amongst 13 acres of soothing farm land in Hawkhurst, a pretty village in the Garden of England (otherwise known as Kent), the tranquil, picturesque surroundings promise to soothe your souls just as soon as you arrive.

There are plenty of creature comforts to savour inside your welcoming, soft-toned horse box. The cosy sofa is perfect for snuggling in front of the glowing wood-effect stove, while the mini TV and DVD player takes care of movie nights.

When it’s time to turn in, you’ll find a comfy double sleeping platform cleverly tucked into the framework, surrounded by portholes to continue those gorgeous views.

Discover a galley kitchen (with no hay in sight!) for whipping up romantic suppers and hearty breakfasts, with fresh eggs available to collect from the farm’s free-roaming chickens.

On sunny days, why not open up the French doors and take your meals out to the furnished courtyard, surrounded by whispering trees, and acres of nature?

You’ll find a furnished, open-fronted shed just next to Hattie, if you’re in the mood for watching any raindrops up close. For an extra-special treat, there’s also a lay-Z-spa hot tub…just in case you feel like popping open a bottle of bubbles and gazing up at the twinkling stars later on!

With so much homely luxury all around, you may not feel like moving a muscle all holiday long. But if you do, why not start by exploring the surrounding land, and making your acquaintance with the resident farm horses and chickens?

Enjoying an enviable position on the Kent and Sussex border, Hawkhurst is ideal for serious walkers and cyclists, with both coast and countryside in easy reach. But if you want to get under the skin of this historic village, why not embark on the thrilling Smugglers’ Trail? Running between Goudhurst and the Sussex coast, the trail marks the escapades of the notorious Hawkhurst Gang, a famous 18th century band of smugglers.

Yet you won’t have to stroll very far to reach the local shops and pubs, if all you feel like doing is stretching your legs, whiling away some time over an easy drink or two, then strolling through the countryside, back to your cosy horse box.
